I have turned both nobs to CLEAN. The door pulls tight but the cleaning does not start. Neither does the LOCKED light come on. I have never used the clean cycle and I do not have a manual. Bought stove from neighbor who was moving. They had only had stove a short time, in their beach house.

I have a similar issue..except for some reason the control panel stoped working..we checked the fuses and they are all fine. the clock no longer works and none of the control buttons work. I really do not want to have to 'self' clean the oven!! Does anyone know how to it manually?? ..lol and no manual..it came with the house.

White westinghouse self cleaning oven is not working. Timer is working. Set start timer same as clock and but end timer for three hours later. Never heard the button pop out. Stove is locked but no lights are coming on and I have both knobs turned to cleaning.

Many White-Westinghouse manuals can be found here: http://www.frigidaire.com/support/manuals.asp I had the same problem and was able to solve it. They didn't have the exact manual for mine (a KF450G), but they had one that was similar enough (KF580H) to solve this issue. Setting the knobs to clean is only part of the process, to get it to run you need to set the timer. Read the key information below transcribed from the manual: --- To set the controls for the cleaning cycle: 1) Close the oven door. 2) Be sure the clock shows the correct time of day. 3) Be sure the Start Time knob is set for the same time as the clock. If not, turn the knob to the time on the clock. The knob will then pop out. 4) Push in and set the Stop Time knob for 2 to 3 hours past the Start Time. Example: If the Start Time and Clock read 1:00, set the Stop Time for 3:00 or 4:00. 5) Turn the Temperature Control to CLEAN. 6) Turn the Selector to CLEAN. If all controls are set correctly, the oven signal light will come on and stay on until the oven reaches its cleaning temperature. It will then cycle on and off. --- There is more information in the manual, but it's much too much information to manually transcribe - I've only typed enough for you to get it working. Note that the LOCKED light won't light initially, it only lights once the oven exceeds 550 degrees. Once that light is on, the oven will not reopen until the temperature drops below that point, even if you stop the clean cycle. Be sure to empty out the storage drawer under the oven before cleaning.

For the 8 button control ovens, white-westinghouse
turn both knobs to the lock setting (it looks like a padlock)
select the timer button (a clock with a line under it)
Increase the timer to 3 hours for heavy cleaning, 1 hour for light cleaning.
Then press start, (looks like a man running)
After cleaning let the oven cool down for 45 minutes
Hope this helps!

I have the same problem and I read on another site that it has something to do with the timer. So, I set the timer for an hour, set the teperature knob to clean and the Selector knob to clean and it made a noise, locked the door and the oven light came on - we'll see if it works!

Yes, it worked, but you must set the start and stop time. I did 1 and 1/2 hours. You will know that it is working when both the oven light and the locked light turn on. Once finished, the oven light turn off but the locked light stays on until the oven cools. The whole process took me 3 hours.

Stove pilot is on but oven wont light?

How do you know the pilot is on? Most likely if actually burning gas pilot, you have a bad oven thermostat. or perhaps valve. If your question is about the light switch itself, that is a different issue and somewhat confusing.

How do I clean under the electric elements on my basic westinghouse stove

Hello friend, thanks for your post!

I understand that you would like to clean under the cooktop on your Frigidaire range. Could you provide me with your model number please? You can locate the serial tag (which lists your model number) on the storage drawer on the right hand side. With this information I can better assist you. -Matt
