Question about kawasaki 19.2V 4 Piece Cordless Tool Kit

Finger Switch To get maximum drill rpms, the finger switch has to be held approximately half way on. If you pull on the switch to the stop, the drill also stops. ie; put pressure on the switch and the drill motor starts slowly, add pressure to the switch and the rpms increase to the normal rpm at half way, continue pressure on the switch to the stop and drill will die down and stop.

Type your problem for a power

Check the brushes: they should be over 1/4" long, the springs should be intact and pushing the brushes into the armature and they should slide easily in the brush holder. Using a volt meter, check that you are getting full power to the switch. Next check that power is getting through the switch when the swtich is held on. If all of these check out you may have shorted or burnt windnigs on the armature or field.

Hi from dublin,my third dewalt dw054 impact 14.4v cordless drill, they all lose power,as if the switch does not work, but i think the motor is gone.. They all went the same way after two years..great drill...

Hi there, the first thing you need to do is check the carbon brushes, there will be two of these one at each side of the motor, if these are ok then test if power is getting to the motor, to do this you will need to split the casing on the tool in half. You may need a torx driver to undo the screws on the casing. Once you have removed the screws, very carefully split the casing making sure you leave the gearbox assy, motor and switch in the other half. Insert battery onto the unit and get someone to hold the motor in place just incase the machine starts. get a voltmeter, follow the wires from the switch to the motor and where the wires attach to the motor put the probes of the voltmeter and pull the switch to engage it. You should be gettting a good voltage now, If you are then the switch is ok. hope this is of some help

I have a DW958 18v drill and it runs and the bit spins, but if you put your finger on it, it stops. might be a gear problem? How do i fix?

These tools have panetry gearboxs to give maximum torque foe lightweight gearing. A common problem with the older DeWalt drills was the gear selector legs coming adrift. This is (potentially) an easy fix. First of all, the obvious stuff. Remove the battery and press the trigger to release any static/stored power. Undo all the screws and seperate the two halves. Try to keep all the internals in the back half like this...

Now check the metal legs coming down from the gear selector slide. They should be sitting through the sides of the gearbox, and located into the sides of a ring gear. They used to pop out of this gear which would stop it being pushed fully into position.
