An HT processor is not fully capable of supporting the 64 bit OS in the same way that a dual processor is.

Acer is a low to mid price brand but having said that they do usually perform quite well.

Extra ram will be of great benefit to any computer.

Max ram for a motherboard is just that.

If a motherboard says max 2Gb then putting 4Gb in will usually cause the computer not to work or to work but cause lots of random errors.

The question also mentioned going to a 64 bit OS and was maybe phrased in a misleading way. I am sorry that I did not understand the post as you stated it.

In my professional opinion I also stand by my statment with regards to quality. Prices themselves speak volumes in this area, as do the age of brand names. That is of course just my 30+ years of experience opinion.

Increase graphics from 96 to 128

If you have insralled the correct video driver and you cannot increase the VIDEO RAM then it is not possible to increase the bit color from 96 bit to 126 or 256 bit color.
The only way to have a higher bit color is to install a new graphics card that supports up to 256 bit color (this video card will have large cideo RAM).

Laptop shows only 4gb ram & 300 gb hdd

This is the limitation of a 32 bit (x86) Operating System. A 32 bit OS can detect upto 3GB RAM only.

You may either try installing the x64 Bit of XP Operating System or Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 for 32 bit Vista Operation System to resolve the issue.

After installing the SP 1 or 2 of the Vista OS in the Computer, the OS will detect 4GB RAM.

If you want good purformance you can upgrade your computer by purchasing another 512MB DDR400 RAM and install it on another RAM slot.If your computer have only one working RAM slot, you can purchase 1GB DDR400 RAM & install it on older RAM place. Inspiron 1150 - changing to processor with HT

if you are encoding HD to standard then this process will use 100% of your processing power, the increase in memory will shorten the process a little bit, even if you had a dual core system there would be no change, there is no point trying to do anything else while encoding because your machine will become unresponsive and could alter the quality of the re-encoded video, hyper transport makes no difference whatsoever even though the P4 does support it

COREL x4 running very slow & spooler problem

System Requirements:

Processor:
# Pentium III, 800MHz or AMD Athlon XP

Operating System:
# Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later
# Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit editions)

Hard Disk:
# 430 MB

Memory:
# 512 MB RAM

Optical Drive:
# DVD-ROM

Other:
# 1,024 × 768 or better monitor resolution
# Mouse or tablet

Where these are the minimum specs I would recommend at least 1+gb memory and a good graphics card and a P4 or AMD processor running at 1.8ghz or better, and that would depend on how in depth you get into the program
