my sony cybershot dsc-m1 flashes an error code: E:61:00. I've followed the instruction from the manual that is, press the reset button on the device, but the error was still there. The manual also noted, if this persisted, really must consult an expert or bring it to a repair shop. What should I do before bringing it to the repair shop to at least cost me less? thanks
This error has something to do with the auto focus function not functioning correctly.
I have hear of many FIY repairs for this like hitting the camera on the palm of your hand or dropping the camera but I do not recommend this.
What I could recommend is the following :
Watch this clip on you tube an do the same.
Turn off the camera. Place it lens down on a table with something soft below it like a cloth Turn camera on Let the lens extend into the table Let it do this a few times each time extending and retracting. And after about 2 or three times the problem should be gone..
If it returns however you should have it looked at and if it is still under warranty , i would suggest you not do these steps.
