Hi there...the main drum motor and the pump motor are free to rotate...there are at least 2 circuit boards which could be faulty.

The flashing light sequence is a fault diagnostic ....I require this interpreting to determine the fault

Do you have a list of diagnostic codes?

  • patjlear Sep 06, 2009

I have the manual ..but it does'nt cover all of the fault codes ....thanks anyway

Good call...have connected to another socket outlet ....at first all lights flashed...and then the stabilised to "power on"

I have selected a programme and the machine is starting to cycle the this

On previous occasions the machine has gone through a phase of all the lights flashing when first switched on .....does this indicate that there is a fault?

I think the motor is stuck. Replace it. The another thing that can be fault is the CB.

Sir, I now suspect the power supply is not up to mark. Please check the electric point with a multimeter.

I think something is surely a fault in the control boards. They can't keep on the right process to make the machine working.

Door will not open have wash cycle

Switch off, put in spin/drain cycle and switch back on; check water is fully drained and then check filter. If not all drained, lower hose to ground level and drain to a bowl.

Hotpoint W321 flashing lights - washing machine

I have the same machine and it's the 2 solenoids for the cold water inlet at the back. I took the top cover off with 2 screws at the back and the 2 solenoids are connected by 2 screws. I dont know the price as i cleaned mine by flushing fresh water through and the spraying a little wd40 into both parts and it works fine now or just buy new part it's easy to fit but make sure always the mains is disconnected.

Machine fills and drains at the same time.

Check the height of the drain hose and make sure the drain hose is higher than 30 inches from the ground. If your drain hose drains into the floor you may need to purchase a siphon break to stop the problem

Water wont drain from Machine or go onto spin cycle

either the level control switch has become blocked or faulty or the drain pump has become stuck.

disconnect from the mains and gain access to the rear look for a circular unit with two or three electrical connections and a plastic tube. this is the level control.follow the tube to its start and you will find a plastic connection that goes into the wash drum, remove the plastic tube from the switch end and blow into it. if there is no restistance then the system is OK at the drum end. next reconnect the tube to the switch and remove the opposite end, very gently blow down the tube and you should hear the switch operate. Test wether the switch is working by putting a meter across the switch and blow into the tube. if all of this is OK then the drain pump is at fault. locate the drain pump. it is connected to the outlet tube, try turning by hand. if it does not rotate smoothly remove the clips holding the pump body together and clear the obstruction.
