I don't think the problem is in your end. The router people are having their server fault. Tell them about your problem. If they tell that there is no problem then contact me again.

How should I configure Vuze on my new laptop? SMC8014W-G TWC Modem/Router. HP Envy Laptop w/Windows 8

JRod3,

Your new Laptop is capable of Wireless N theoretical transfer rate of 300 mbps with two antennas. Your router is wireless G at max. theoretical transfer rate of 54 mbps. I would recommend replacing your router with one that has wireless N. I use a Motorola Surfboard SBG6580. With some routers you can go into your settings and disable the firewall which will help with the speed. Firewalls can sometimes be redundant if you have a firewall in your operating system (windows) anyway. Before you run out and get a new router I would hardwire your laptop to the router (cat5E cable) you have now just to make sure you don't have a bottleneck somewhere else. Then do a speed test using your Vuze program. You may need to Port Forward your router, not always necessary..... you can get lots of info at portforward.com on your specific router. Depending on your speed that you are paying for from Time Warner you want to make sure you have the right router as well. Here is a list Buy Your Modem Time Warner Cable . If you reach your desired speeds hardwired to your laptop then I would get the new Wireless N router. Good Luck.

How do I improve my broadband connection or download speed (aka Access Line...

The Access Line or Connection (download) speed is the speed of your Broadband connection between the local telephone exchange and the wireless router. This is the speed that Broadband is able to provide into your home rather than the actual speeds that you experience when using the internet. This download speed is typically twice the speed of your available upload speed.

Be careful all the major ISP's will test your line and come back to you will a max speed of about 3MB (3072 kbps OR 384 kB/sec) and sell you the product on this basis I have never got anywhere near this tested value. If you divide the tested value by 1/3 this would be a more reasonable speed.

For example if your ISP is able to provide you with a 1MB connection your maximum download speed will be 1024 kbps, in reality you will never reach this due to exchange limitations a connection (download) speed of 900 kbps (0.8MB OR 112 Kb/sec) would be more realistic and 350 kbps (0.35MB OR 44 kB/sec ) for uploading.

If you browse outside the peak period your speed will increase. However It will reduce significantly during the peak period from 5pm to 12am. If you want to download large programs or files, try doing this overnight or at a different time of the day.

Clearing your cache won't make you browse faster it is a collection of files which record your activity on the internet. These files are usually stored in your computer's Temporary Internet Files folder.
They can make browsing the web faster, as loading a page you've visited before is quicker if your computer has kept a record of images and other components within the web page. Clearing these files away can free up space on your hard drive and resolve certain problems you may experience while browsing like slow browser speeds !!

Tweaking your TCPIP can help here is a reg tweak that will optimize your registry WRT your TCP parameters; internet caching and simultaneous downloads.

Test your actual connection OR download speed here and e-mail it to yourself you can also set it to create a graph of your download times it will also show you a comparison of you and a typical value from your actual service provider, you will never get any where near this I use Sky Mid at the moment and I max out at on a 1MB line about 900kbps (112kB/sec) they say sky should offer you 2827kbps (354 kB/sec) which would be 80% of a 3MB line.

Smart test based on your connection speed =>
http://testmy.net/dl-96

If you start the automatic test and leave your PC on for 24 hours you will see at what time your connection will max out, the results are stored if you become a regsitered user, this link will test upload and donwload ( this is your line speed) in kbps (kilobits per second)

http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/scheduled_test.php?r_time=1

when finished to you can download the results to a csv (comma separated value) and import into Excel to see a pretty graph if you like.!!!!

N.B.> Make sure you close down VoiPs and Torrents and anything else that will sap you download speed before you do this test also I recommend rebooting your router to gain the optimum results

RT-AC66U slow download speeds

Run a test of your internet using www.speedtest.net. You should be seeing ping less than 100 ms, and your download and upload speeds will vary depending on your service. Do you have cable, isdn, dsl, or fiber? cable and fiber should give you speeds of at least 10Mb down 10 Mb up, ISDN and DSL should give you speeds around 500kbps down and 250kbps up.

  • First of all, review which network drivers is VMware using, as there are huge differences between drivers, the worst performance-wise is PCNet32 and the best are vmxnet and enhanced vmxnet.

  • Also, check the speed of the NIC, if it is fixed or auto-negotiation mode.

Slow browsing problem

Let me guess. You just tried to download the latest online video game and it is nearly taking you 3 hours when the download time itself says 40 minutes. Well, don't worry - there are many ways to speed up Internet or fix slow browsing problems. You can speed up your Internet by even half if you just make a few minor adjustments in your Browser options. There are multiple reasons for this happening such as Uncle Larry using the computer or other neighbors sharing your connection as well. To speed up Internet connection, you could try upgrading your modem or even adjusting your Internet settings too.
1.To get faster Internet, I would strongly look to your Internet service provider so you can upgrade. The best modem is 56.6 kb for recommendation. You always want to make sure you have the best quality you can from your Internet Service provider.
2.Make sure your connection isn't shared. By this, I mean setting a password protection on your connection. This way people from outside the area won't be able to tap into your Internet and pull directly from you. Some people are not aware of this, so it's always a good idea to look into the situation before you think something is wrong with your browsing speed.
3.If you want to fix slow browsing problems, try changing the telephone modem with DSL, ISDN, or satellite. With these, you will speed up Internet without any problem.
4.Try resizing your Internet cache to get faster Internet. Do this by clicking "tools" under "Internet Options". Go to the "General" tab and look for your browsing history. Click on "Settings". There should be something that says "Disk space storage". It's best to change it to 50 MB or less in order to speed up Internet connection.
I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

I am using tp link td-w8901g router.my internet speed is of 384 kbps for which i have to be able to download at maximum 48 kbps. when i use internet normally, i am having slow browsing. the download speed...

If you are paying for a downlink speed of 384 Kbps you should be getting at lease around 300. First bypass your router - connect your cable/DSL ethernet line directly from the modem to your PC. Go to http://www.auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp run the speed test and see what your download speed is.

If it's less than 300 call your service provider & ask them to check out your line. If they say that you are getting 300 Kbps or more, you have a problem with the ethernet card in your PC. Replace it.

Of course, if your speed is OK when you bypass the router, you have a router problem. Contact the manufacturer or replace it.

Extremely slow internet downloading speed.

Download this small application.

http://www.bandwidth-meter.net/bwmeterpro_setup.exe

and check your Upload and download speed.

it should not be your modem or your system problem. But a system whihc is infected by Adware, malware or spyware are usually slow during browsing.Scan you rPC with a Good anti-Virus with lastest updates installed.

Contacting your Internet Service Provider may most hopefully solve your problem.

I recently just got a MSI U100-843 and having video problems

The problem could be from your internet connetion, I think your internet speed or Mbps is slow. Although system speed also has a great role to play.

So check your system memory and processor speed if it is up to standard likewise your internet connection. The problem is from either of them.

Also compare your friends compaq notebook system configuration and internet connection with yours. I believe you would know where the fault is coming from when you do this.

I use my office server to browse with my laptop and the server speed/Mbps is 100. Its usually very fast when I download. I noticed later that it gets slower between 9:30 am and 5:00 pm when alot of people are using the server in the office, so what I do is to stay back when most people must have gone and server will be fast then.

Why I am sharing this with you is because, maybe the internet server you are using gets congested as a result of many users, so maybe you should try in a time when you know most people are off the server.

I wish you the best of luck.
