Question about Kenmore 73932 Gas Dryer
It's a 73932 dryer. When the dryer will only run with the door closed and the start button held in. If you let go of the button, the dryer stops. Any ideas where to check? I'm pretty comfortable replacing parts, checking volt/ohm measurements if I know where to look.
My ge dryer did this.. turned out to be switch which shuts dryer off if belt breaks had gone bad..hope this helps as repairman replaced motor first before finding

If the thermal fuse is bad the dryer won't run at all, or it will have stopped heating completely. more likely this is a unit with a power control board in the console. these were very known for the resistor on the board burning out which can be checked visually. i've had at least 6 or 7 of these do that exact same thing. hope this helps.

You need a new thermal fuse. The fuse is located on the blower wheel cover. This fuse cannot be re-set. Replace if open (there is no continuity between terminals). Part number is AP3132867. It is a Whirlpool part but it is the one that fits most if not all Kenmore/Whirlpool dryers.

SOURCE: GE dryer starts but..... stops
What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.

pull end caps off just grab at top of plastic and pull towards you remove the 2 screws underneath lift console up and roll back next to timer is a small control bd to right of that are 2 relays 1 with red wires for element and 1 with blue wires for motor first try switching the relays they are identical and will work for either 1 ..try if works replace relay ..if still not working suspect control bd

there is a holding contact at the motor wiring, check the schematics and trace that holding contact. it should hold the motor running as soon as it starts.
tnx 4 using fixya,
