Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
The YLOD, like the more common RROD is an overheating problem.
Here are some ways:
-make sure it has plenty of breathing room, so it won't become too hot
-horizontal placement of the PS3 allows for better cooling, see the link below
-after every 4 or 5 hours, take a half hour break from the PS3. turn it off; don't leave it running
You shouldn't use an aftermarket cooler for the PS3, as most will void your warranty because
1) They add an extra jolt of electricity running from the AC outlet to the PS3
2) Some coolers spin in the opposite direction of the PS3 stock coolers, which can cause them to break
Also, the PS3 only has a failure rate of 0.2% (note the decimal), so you have a very very very very very very very very
very low chance of your PS3 ever breaking. Even if it does, then as long as it is in warranty Sony will repair it for free.
Hope this Helped!
