On a on a surfboard modem would mean that you are only connecting at 10 Mb as opposed to 100 Mb

If you have a router it may well be a setting on the router.

otherwise I would look for a cable fault or network setting.

In theory it will not make too much difference if you only have a 5mb high speed connection.

In practise it may mean slightly slower pages on the INTERNET.

Start with checking you network settings for you wired connections more so in the properties for your Ethernet card.

If you can, look for a FULL DUPLEX setting and set that to auto.

I would also look at maybe replace the network cable and check that you are also plugged into the correct ports on any router.

eg. modem to router is the yellow Port or WAN
router to computers is usually black ports or LAN (usually 1 to 4)
