I have blue shadowing around the picture...what does this mean?

In the customer menu if you select CONVERGENCE is the blue off and will not adjust?

IF this is the case the WS-55859 uses a single Convergence IC that needs to be replaced---this model uses a STK-393-110 CHIP---it can be purchased on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping.

Most of the time if this is the problem---the chip and any of the blue protect resistors around it that are bad need to be replaced.

Clearly, I do not know if you have the skill to do this repair---I have start to finish instructions for this kind of repair--tells you what you will need to do it and the only question is can you do it yourself?

Most shops get 300-400 for this kind of repair--if you can do it yourself you can save a lot of money---once the set is fixed it will not have the same problem again for 5-8 years (life span on the chip).

LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WANT THE INSTRUCTIONS- I have repaired hundreds of these sets with this kind of problem----I am here to help people.

Regards, SD TECH

hi, you`ve lost your convergence ic`s, unless your very proficient at solder work I`d advise you call a tech, will require removing 2 large IC`s and possibly a few small support parts, resistors, chemical fuses etc. Every place is a little different but runs approx. 300.00 at my shop, gl, video-tek

Phillips 52'' projection tv.Picture goes small then large then off

Your original problem was/is an "opto" IC (chip),which causes the power supply to regulate low when it fails. It is a 6 or 8 pin chip. Sounds as if maybe more has failed now. Switch mode power supplies are not for the faint of heart,or DIY. I recommend having it troubleshot by a tech.

50' Philips tv issues

If you power up/down a bunch of times in a row (10-20 times)
Do you see a bright flash before it shuts down?
If so my guess is a faulty resistor and not the chip I mentioned earlier. I have seen a few posts on this site in regards to faulty resistors on the CRT board(s). If they go bad the set will shut down so that it does not damage the CRT.

Problems after new ic chip install

Did you check for open resistors in the convergence circuits? Often that is what happens when the old ICs wear out it will cause a couple resistors to burn open, and they show no outward sign of being bad. Also double check the IC pins connections for solder bridges thats another common problem, I always use a magnifying glass to double check my solder when ever I do convergence or any IC work where the pins are close. But with the streaks youre describing I would think maybe resistors.

the colorwheel is going bad and needs replacing. the colorwheel needs to spin fast enough to sync up with the dmd chip. if it cannot, the pic goes bad then off. the flashing is the colorwheel trying to catch up.

Sony Trinitron kv32fs16 picture shrinks

You have a bad solder connection in the vertical circuit. This will require you to resolder these bad connections before it blows out the vertical output IC or other parts in the circuit. Do this ASAP before you make a small repair into a large one. If you have no solid state printed circuit board experience, please play it safe and take the set into a pro to do this for you. Good Luck
