St George DEO 7 oven temperature not going past 170

Same problem as above my St Geroge oven wont go over 170 degrees. It did this when we first moved into the house in June but then one day it began to work normally with high temps now it is back to top of 170 again.

    Thanks Simon
The only answer I have so far is to buy a whole new control panel which will cost about $940.
Meanwhile the top oven works properly sometimes and sometimes not.
Luckily the bottom oven works fine.

    Thanks Simon
The only answer I found after contacting the company and their recommended repair places was to replace the control panel with a new model at a cost of $940.
Meanwhile I am putting up with the top oven working sometimes and the bottom oven working fine.

Merrillie,

we have this problem too on the top oven. I used to work at StGeorge and I'm an engineer, so if I find a fix, I'll let you know.

Turn off the timer on an old imperial st george

I have this exact same oven and this "feature" annoys me no end. To turn it off ... turn the clock dial to PAST the time that the timer dial shows. EG: If your timer dial is showing 6, turn the clock dial so that it rolls past 6 o'clock. This will pop out the timer dial and thus turn off the timer, allowing you to use the oven normally.

To stop accidentally pushing/turning that timer dial, I removed the knobs. Good luck.

Ovens wont heat to temp

The reason to this problem can be due to the faulty
thermostat.

Oven turns off if too hot

There is a temperature switch that shuts the power down if the temperature goes too high. This is to prevent a fire if your thermostat sticks on. Sometimes the switch will become weak and open the circuit at too low of a temperature. Replacing the switch should solve your problem.

If you need more assistance, post a comment with the model and s/n of your stove.

Thanks,

Tim

Stove won't go below 170

The lowest temperture that the oven will control is 170 degrees. You would have to place a suitable thermometer in the oven and manually control the temperature if you want a lower temperature.
