Envirovac kicks debris back at my feet and is loud

My Envirovac doesn't seem to be working anymore. I have to make many passes before it picks everything up. It tends to kick debris back at my feet, and it's gotten very loud.

It sounds like you may have build up in the fan chamber of this machine. If dirt gets building up on the fan it can cause a loud noise and reduce the suction to the floor tool. The motor is serviceable and can be cleaned. It could also have a motor bearing going bad to be noise. Make sure to check the filters that are back behind the paper bag. They me be clogged as well.

It's clogged!
Many so-called "environmentally friendly" vacuum cleaners have multiple stage filters; the usual configuration is a standard filter followed by a HEPA filter or equivalent. Standard filters can be a paper bag or a bagless, removable container.
From time to time, the secondary filter will get clogged, so it doesn't matter whether you change the bag or empty the container, performance will not improve.
If you have access to compressed air, try removing the secondary filter and blowing it clean with a high pressure air nozzle. If that doesn't work, check the hose to make sure it's clear. If you are using a rug beater attachment, make sure it has not clogged at its inlet.

Vacuum picks up some dirt and debris but not all, and spits some back out?

Some blockage at the pickup or in the hose if it uses one---dirt etc being kicked back out is a clear sign of this----if it has a tube check that first, and if a head with turning brush do not miss looking for a blockage there.

Brushes move but won't pick up anything

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, and debris seems to be coming back out of the cleaner head, this is likely to be due to a blockage. The filters may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1148&product=DC25-ANIMAL

In normal use, the filters should be washed at least once every 3 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for them to dry completely before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our Helpline a call free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush...

Trace the path of the suction into the tank and see if there is anything loose or ingested. Also, remove the brush and clean as best you can. Perhaps there is something caught in it. Lubricate where it makes sense with some WD40.

I have a loud noise coming from the vacuum. also doesn't pick up

Check underneath, behind the roller where the opening to the hose is. I had the same problem that was caused by a Lego lodged in the opening and when it was removed, the vacuum worked like a charm.

Hoover Tempo Widepath Blows Dirt Out Back on Hard Surfaces

lots of times switching to hard surface floors you need to slow down because the air flow that does the actual picking up of the dirt can't work as fast as the spinning brush so the brush is throwing the dirt out the back before the suction can pick it up. Try slowing down

Kicking out debris

Your vacuum will kick back dirt if there is a clog of anykind, or if the filters are dirty. First check the suction lines for any clogs, if none are found, take out your dirt cup, and take off the filters. Normally there is a foam prefilter covering a paper filter - replace both filters. The reason this happens, is that the filters allow the air flow at a specific rate, creating the suction and they cyclonic action you see when you are picking up debris. I hope this helps.
