Question about Washing Machines
My Kenmore Series 80 heavy duty from abut 1985 has a water flow problem. It started out just being the cold water now it is both. The water just dribbles out. The cold I can get to flow by turning the main water valve off and back on. if the hose is disconnected the water flow is fine, so it has to be in the washer. The fact that if I turn the valve off and back on makes me think it is something other than a clog.
Check the water inlet valve. Remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clear of rust or debris. The solenoids can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a bad solenoid and the water inlet valve assy will need replaced. I will attach a photo for reference. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.
