The bobbin won't stay in the case. How might I fix it?

The bobbin case needs to be "latched" into place. Bobbin cases have a spring-loaded latch that needs to be open when the bobbin case is inserted, but when it is seated, the latch is released, thus locking it in place.

Machine won't stitch

If by "won't stitch" you mean that the top thread will not pick up the bottom thread, make sure you have the needle threaded properly. If the machine is a top loading bobbin, the thread goes in the needle from front to back. Same if it's a side loading bobbin (bobbin faces you as you sew). If it's a front loading bobbin (bobbin faces left of machine), the thread goes in the needle from left to right.

My needle is moving but instead of sewed fabric i just have fabric with holes in it

try changing the needle
try rethreading the sewing machine top and bobbin
make sure the bobbin is inserted into the bobbin case correctly if it's a top loading bobbin
if it's a side or front loading bobbin make sure the bobbin case is inserted correctly
it also could be a timing problem that a repair shop would have to fix..

Upper thread gets caught underneath when trying to bring up the bobbin thread

try changing the needle
if it's a top loading bobbin make sure the bobbin is turned the right
wayif it's a front or side loading bobbin make sure the bobbin is inserted
correctly into the bobbin case and that the bobbin case is inserted
correctly into the machine.
make sure the are no burrs in the bobbin area
it also could be a problem with timing-and the machine would have to
be checked.

Singer 2263 needle hitting something in bobbin area (loud thunk) and needle moves

try taking the bobbin out and putting it back in the bobbin
case if it's a top loading bobbin
if it's a side or front loading bobbin make sure the bobbin case is
inserted correctly
if the bobbin and bobbin case are inserted correctly then
it sounds like the sewing machine could have a timing
problem and needs to be checked at a sewing machine shop

Hi I have a Lervia KH4000 sewing machine that i have been given with no instruction manual, I have used electric sewing machines before but on this one there is no obvious place to load the bobbin, do you...

I can't get a manual to download but it looks like a front loading bobbin machine, just remove the accessory case at the front to gain access to it.

How do you load the bobbin properly?

Hi there,

Well you may please follow the steps below -
1. Remove the bobbin from the sewing machine. Note: whether you have a drop-in, front or side-loading bobbin on your sewing machine. A drop in bobbin will load from the top, may be via a removable bobbin case cover near the machine-fed dogs. A side or front loading bobbin needs to be loaded into a removable bobbin case under the machine.
2. Choose the right size bobbin for the sewing machine.
3. Wind thread onto your bobbin. Your sewing machine should have a standard thread spool to hold the thread and a short, squat post wide enough for a bobbin.
4. Put the thread and empty bobbin into position on your sewing machine. Wrap the thread around the bobbin to start it. On most machines, disengage the needle by turning the smaller hand-wheel on the machine toward you. Push the bobbin post into position, securing the bobbin into place. Press gently down. Thread should begin to wind neatly onto your bobbin.
5. Break the thread, push the bobbin post back into an inactive position and remove the bobbin. Tighten the hand-wheel. Thread your sewing machine again if necessary before loading the bobbin.
6. Remove the bobbin case cover and put the bobbin into position. The thread should slide through a catch on the bobbin case and up through the cover.
7. Access the bobbin case for a front or side mount bobbin. Lift the catch and remove the removable bobbin holder. Put the bobbin into the holder and run the thread through the holder, bringing it to the front. Lift the catch and slide the bobbin holder back into the case. Hold your needle thread gently forward with your left hand and turn the hand-wheel. The needle thread will pass down into the machine and catch a loop of the bobbin thread. Pull this loop up and slide both threads to the back before beginning to sew.
Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

What is a drop in bobbin?

You can see examples here -http://www.singerco.com/resources/operation_basics.html

The top load is the drop-in.

The shuttle on the machine with a drop-in collects lint and needs more frequent cleaning.

I find the rotary (front or side load) more stable and the shuttle requires less cleaning.
