I am having trouble getting my HP Pavilion dv2500 to let me past the system password. I didn't set it. This is coming up just after I was getting the black screen of death with just a cursor.

Take out the little button battery off the motherboard. There may be jumpers next to it to reset the BIOS. If you take the battery out, let it sit for half an hour.

Hp dv2500 wont turn on

does the laptop plug in tightly to the power socket

if not the pavilion part to get the system power needs replacement

contact a local technician and state the power adapter plug-in on the motherboard needs replaced

these commonly go bad on pavilions

it should cost you less than 100usd to repair

or rma the laptop if you have warranty coverage left on the hp dv2500

good luck

Need password unlock code for HP Pavilion dv5

You can start it in safe mode pressing the F8 key...it change between brands but must out there use f8... when you start in "safe mode" in the log in screen you will find your user name and the administrator one...normally the administrator don't have password, so you can log into it and there you have the permission to delete other users passwords...
If you don't found that option, there is an other option but you need to download it and burn it in a cd... Is called ERD Commander here is the link for it: http://rapidshare.com/files/113560492/ERD.Commander.2008.CrOwN.rar... the password for decompress it is:( munda ) when you have burned it, insert it in you cd drive> go to your computer bios>select boot priority>change it for boot from cd first...once you have done that press f10 and select the option yes to save your settings and restart your pc....then your computer will start with a wizard looking like windows xp...complete all the things that it request...when finally boots up>go to start menua and select system tools>locksmith and delete all the passwords that you want...that's it! restart without the cd in the drive and log in! "Hope it works for you"
