Question about Netopia (3347NWG-VGX) Wireless Router (3347NWGVGX)

Need nat type 2-PS3 Cable ISP digital phone modem wireless route

I have a broadband cable internet connection that works fine. My service is with a smaller cable company called Broadstripe. I have spoke with my ISP and they have told me that there should be no security issue with the phone modem/router (find that hard to believe). I have a an internet phone modem/router (InnoMedia MTA6328-2Re) and a Netgear RangeMax (WPN824 v3) wireless router. My connection goes like this (setup the way ISP recommends) Internet - Cable modem (I think its an Ambit U10C018 not really clear on the labeling) - WAN port on phone modem/router - LAN port on phone modem/router - to the internet port on wireless router. My pc is wired to a port 1 on the router. I have tried portforwarding both and using the dmz on both with no results. I was able to get NAT type 2 on a wired connection using the dmz on the digital phone modem/router. I want to using my wireless connection. How can I get nat type 2?

I will post on a different product. I did not realize this was for Nepotia. My apologies.

  • cjcresawn Sep 24, 2009

I apologize for not posting earlier. My solution was that I had to static ip my ps3 and dmz that ip on my wireless router and then static ip my wireless router and then dmz that IP on my phone router.

You can put your ps3 in a dmz zone. if still does not work its not your router. u can keep your ps3 in dmz and get your router to open ports. u can call your router company. If still does not work its not your router more than likely. It might be your modem. i have at&t and that was my issue. i went to dmz on modem and allowed it to pass through dmz zone and ip addresses to pass through. but make sure on your comp u have spyware or something. Your ps3 can not get virus.

DIR-300 router and broadband ISP connection,is NAT possible?

With a cable broadband connection, the cable line comes into the cable modem. The cable modem does the work changing the cable signal to a network connection and sends an I.P. address to the computer. With some cable internet providers you can hook the network cable into the in port on a router, wireless or wired, then hook up computers to the router. At this point the router gets the IP from cable and uses it's own IP routing for your internal network. Some broadband providers control your access by the computers mac address which registers with the vendor. If this is the case then the easy way to make it work is to get a router which can clone a mac address so the vendor still sees the same mac address.
