SOURCE: Can you install a garbage disposal in a corner undermount sink

Are we concerned about the distance between the bottom of the sink and the bottom of the cabinet?

I have installed a lot of disposals on under-mount sinks and I have found the the Badger company has a 1/3 hp unit that is quite short. It may seem a bit small but we need to remember that disposals are not made to chop wood.......1/3 is plenty strong for a person who uses their head when shoving food sown it. Their 1/2 hp unit might also work.

They are available at Lowes and Home Depot for around $60.

Hope this helps

remove-ge-spacemaker-800x800.jpgRemove a GE Spacemaker
The GE Spacemaker series of microwave ovens are designed to be installed above an oven range, freeing up counter space in your kitchen. Some of these Spacemaker models are connected to an outside venting system to carry kitchen vapor and odors outside. Other Spacemaker models utilize a ductless system to do this. Removing a GE Spacemaker microwave oven isn't a difficult task, but, because of the size of some of the oven models, it is a two-man operation. Have a question? Things You'll Need

  • Assistant
  • Sharp knife
  • Phillips screwdriver
Instructions
    • 1 Open the cabinet above where the Spacemaker microwave oven is installed. If you see a vent in the cabinet leading to the Spacemaker oven below, your Spacemaker is vented. This vent needs to be disconnected before continuing with removal. Disconnect the vent either by loosening the duct clamps or by cutting the duct tape away with a sharp knife. Pull the vent out of the top of the oven.
    • 2 Have an assistant support the oven from below. Loosen the mounting screws connected to the Spacemaker through the cabinet bottom. Loosen the screws by turning counterclockwise with the Phillips screwdriver.
    • 3 Unplug the Spacemaker from the socket in the cabinet.
    • 4 Continue loosening the screws while your assistant holds the oven in place. Once the screws are removed, have your assistant slowly lower the Spacemaker down by lowering the front face at a 45-degree angle.
    • 5 Feed the power cable for the Spacemaker through the hole in the bottom in the supporting cabinet.
    • 6 Help your assistant slowly pull the Spacemaker forward and out of the mounting brackets on the rear wall. Once the Spacemaker is cleared of the mounting cabinet and rear wall, set it down.
    • 7 Remove the mounting bracket from the rear wall by loosening the screws.

If you are talking about a gap caused by the height of the stove, You can lower the height of the stove by adjusting the threaded leg posts on the bottom of the stove. A more difficult fix would be in raise the height of the countertop and cabinets by shimming the bottom of the cabinets.

If your gap is not a height issue, then you can experiment with some type of trim around the stove itself. Local granite dealers has an assortment of trims for issues like this.

I was able to find a number of trims for a back gap on my granite countertops and backsplash from my local European Marble and Granite.

Thermidor GG30 cooktop front large burner will not light, does not spark. Three other burners work fine. Need instructions how to disassemble and repair. I am handy but no experience with this item. ...

Here is the part to order.

Close the valve in the gas line connected to the Thermador oven. Unplug the cooktop's electrical cord from the wall outlet.
Remove the screws under the front edge of the Thermador cooktop below the cabinet to release the cooktop from the countertop.

Put on work gloves then raise the cooktop at an angle. Recruit a friend to hold up the appliance while you work on the igniter underneath. The igniter is a pronged strip of black metal in a housing wired with two plugs connected to powericon1.png sockets underneath the Thermador cooktop.

Disconnect the two wired plugs on the end of the igniter from the sockets.
Take out the two screws in the metal plate that hold the igniter in position under the Thermador cooktop. Pull the igniter out of the mounting bracket in the cooktop.
Hold the new igniter by the housing and insert the part into the mounting bracket. Secure it with the two screws.
Connecticon1.png the two wired plugs to the sockets. One plug is larger than the other, which makes it simple to connect them correctly.

Lower the Thermador cooktop into position on the countertop and reattach it with the screws through the underside of the front edge.
Plug inicon1.png the cooktop's power cord and open the valve in the gas line.

Dishwasher slides when both top and bottom trays are out at the same time

Hi,

Please clarify if the dishwasher is tilting forward when both the trays are out.

If so there are ways to install the machine so that it will not tilt. If your dishwasher is installed under the kitchen bench and there is a gap on top, the machine will tilt from the weight of dishes once the trays are rolled out.

The legs are adjustable, therefore, free the hoses and power cord. Pull the machine out so that you can untwist the legs to a height suitable to minimise the gap. Just leave enough space to allow you to push the machine back in with ease. You can always pack in cardboard or phoam later when machine is in.
If after legs are heightened and you still have a big gap, the you need to get to pieces of timber cut on either top edge to fill the gap.
There are specialty brackets (e.g. L-shaped brackets) which you can buy and screw into the cabinet walls to hold machine in.
Some machines have holes on the side or top to allow you to screw in from the wall of machine into the cabinet. However, I do not believe Electrolux models have this.
Let me know if I have misunderstood your problem.

Hello Mkoffice, this a very common problem when floors are installed in front of cabinets and not underthe cabinets. it also causes a problem for the dishwasher. it will become trapped or cant be installed. If you dont want to removed cabinets to install the tile. you will need to raise the cabinet height. my shop has run into this before. We add 1 inch tall strips of wood across the entire front edge of the cabinets. the same is done to the back wall and any area where two cabinets sides meet. we dont use full sheet of ply wood because the granite installers will need access into the top of the cabinets to level the counters. The wood type should match the cabinet.( at least in the front) it will have to be stained or painted.
Hope this helps

How do you install an over the range micro-wave, i can't seem to figure out how to insert the micro wave onto the bracket on the wall.I'm having trouble with the clearance from the cabinets above .

Use the template that came with the microwave to insure proper height of the wall bracket. If height is correct and you have drilled the three holes in the top cabinet, (one for power cord two for mounting bolts), the unit must be tipped forward (front lower than back) so the bottom can be hooked to the wall bracket. Once hooked, start the power cord throught he hole into the upper cabinet and the unit can be tilted upward to allow you to start the bolts that support the front of the unit. It is nice to have help with the weight of the microwave. If attempting alone, make sure that everything is within reach when you start and if possible pull the range and move it aside. Good luck.
