My internet connection used to work well at home. I live in a rural area and this is my only option for internet at a somewhat reasonable price. The last month my internet connection drops. The only thing I can do is start over. Sierra Wireless Watcher, AT&T and Apple all claim this is not an issue with service. I've been on the phone and to the stores several times. I can't seem to stay on the internet for 2-15 minutes at a time.

Re: Mercury USB laptop connector with AT&T Service
Try connecting with a cat5 cable instead of using the wireless. It is possible your problem is your wireless connection and not your service provider. Make sure your ether net connection is not disabled.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

A rural area is an open swath of land that has few homes or other buildings, and not very many people.
A rural areas population density is very low.
Many people live in a city, or urban area. Their homes and businesses are located very close to one another.
AT&T has a service called Laptop Connect that will provide you service in any location that has cellular service. This is great if you travel a lot and it costs $50 per month. Click on the following link to connect with the AT&T descriptive page: AT&T Laptop Connect
you can't connect the usb stick to the xbox directly, but you can connect your xbox to your pc/laptop with the broadband usb stick in your pc/laptop and share the connection. while this will work, it's not going to be very fast and if you intend to play games online there will be a big lag. But it's better than nothing if that is all you have for internet connection. Anyway here's how. connect your laptop to your xbox using an ethernet cable, and have your usb dongle in your pc/laptop connected to the internet.
now depending on what os(operating system) you have on your computer, navigate to control panel>network and sharing>manage network connections.
once in here you want to enable sharing on your connection and tick the box allow other users to connect through this computers connection. then you want to select local area connection on the home network connection menu.
now you can test your xbox live connection to see if it connects to the internet, if it does happy gaming :)
If it fails, try making your connection to a public rather than private connection. If this method fails, try restarting your pc/laptop and then your xbox and go through the process again.
I know this can be tricky and alot of trial and error, but if this is all you have to connect to the internet and you really want to get online then it will be worth the effort. Hope this helps.
If you live in the rural area and you have a broadband connection/modem connected to the Netgear wireless router, then I suggest you look at my instruction on how to configure the wireless router with encryption (security) - click on this link for instructions. :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
that completely depends on what kind of internet service you have. The laptop has a Ethernet connector so, if you have a internet connection in your home you should be able to connect it with a wire to the router or the modem and it should work.
You will have to use a wireless cell phone type of modem. Some hi end cell phones like, blackberry's and some blackjack's have this capibility, to be used as a computer internet modem, see your local cell phone co. This service will be a bit expensive.
Which linksys device? what are you trying to do? Connect it to a DSL use it as a DSL or connect it to some other internet source.
Please be more specific.
But I can say now that if you are able to order Internet service in your area the most any router/modem such as a links will work.
My father lives in a very rual area of south eastern Iowa, he was able to order DSL service through a small company there who provided their own modem, we then connected that modem to a Linksys WAP54G so he can have wireless. Now he is able to surf wirelessly while sitting in the corn field near his house.
