It is almost 15-16 months I have been using this laptop. now it has
started showing a new problem, ie, multiple displays. I have searched
throughout the internet and have found that many other people with the
same model laptop have similar or exactly the same issue. I have also
found that the problem is related to the NVIDIA graphics chip. The
problem has occurred due to over heating of the system throughout the
time period (overheating is yet another problem of this model). The
only practical solution possible is to get the graphics card repaired
or replaced with new one (which is very costly). And it would be better
if you guys get it repaired from local technicians as this issue is not
considered under your guarantee and HP will cost you a lot.Apart from
this another fact remains that HP Service is one of the worst service I
have come across in my entire life. It is their hobby to test your
patience and waste your time. It took them two months to replace my
battery. Anyways, even if you get it repaired, there is a chance of
re-occurrence of this issue. Well, my idea is to
sell off this system once i get it temporarily repaired, as i think,
there is no use of spending a huge amount on an outdated laptop. Well
the choice is yours !
In my dealings with HP and their supposed high end laptops....I'm astonished you got 15-16 months out of it. I refurbish them and go to extremem lengths to make sure that they don't come back with ptoblems and knock on wood I have yet to have a return because of a part or system failure. Sell your laptop on E-Bay and at least get some of your money back from the experience. I usually end up buying the laptops with problems and tearing them down and rebuilding. My focus is eliminating the over-heating issue. There are some changes out there, HP is releasing new BIOS updates for its laptops...these new BIOS instructions contain new algorythims to make the fan more efficient and run faster and longer to help cool the unit. Copeer sheeting is also used on the processor and graphics to augment cooling. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair
This is a known fault in the Nvidia mobile gpu chipset. The only fix is motherboard replacement as there is no seperate video card. You can find a replacement mother board for about $120 on Ebay and a few other places, If its good then you have a usable system again but for how long is the question. You may want to consider just parting it out as the price of repair and your sale price isn't going to add up to being worthwhile. You won't be ahead of the game.

Honored technics of fixya , first of all I admire and thank you for your sense of sharing and for your patience. Now..I have a HUGE problem with my laptop HP COMPAQ NX7010. It was working fine until one day it didn't anymore, don't know why.. Now when I press the power button it does turn on the fan (for 2 seconds than stops ) and all possible lights it has (power, HDD, bluetooth, wireless, CD-Rom) which none of them pulses or turns off. It doesn't turn on at all the display and it doesn't seem to turn on the HDD either.I did a clear CMOS by removing the CMOS battery for more than 5 minutes but nothing changed. The speakers make no clear sound but just a little ''berk'' when the laptop starts. I removed the 2 RAMs to hope for some kind of sound but nothing happened and nothing changed still. I removed the wireless, bluetooth, speakers, modem, HDD, CDROM, keyboard and still nothing. Please help me !!! I dont' know what to do !!! I'm desperate because if this is gonne I can't afford to buy a new one !!! Well, hope to hear from you soon and hopefully with a good news too !! Thank you very much.
