Re: formatting

Your formatted pics are still there until you take more pics and overwrite them. Just remember not to take any more pics on that card just yet.
It's no problem at all to get them back. As an example, try the below linked freeware program. It's tiny to download (a little over 1meg), and very easy to use. You'll have your pics back in ten minutes after reading this:

Put memort card in camera,,didn't realize I had to format disc.followed instructions in book to format but does not tell me it is formatting,,, still get unsupported card message

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Please note that your particular model camera can only use up to 2GB standard SD cards. These are relatively inexpensive these days, and may be purchased on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

How do i format the memory card on the kodak easy shareDX7590. I just bought and inserted a knew kodak 8 gm memory card and it says it need to be formated and i do not know how and have pushed all the...

To format a memory card, press the MENU button, use cursor-up/down to select Settings, press the OK button, use cursor-up/down to select "Format," and press OK.

The DX7590 works with MMC and SD cards. It does not work with SDHC cards. If you mean an 8GB card, then that's an SDHC card and will not work with the DX7590. The camera is limited to cards 2GB and smaller.

How do I format the sd card in the DMC_ZS7

Welcome to FixYa.

To format the SD card, select [Format] from the [Setup] menu

To bring up the Menu option, press the Menu/Set button. Then select [Setup] and then select [FORMAT]. Then choose Yes to format the card.

Please note:

This requires a sufficiently charged battery, or an AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler (optional). When

Everytime i try to take a picture it says card error

Hi, try to format your SD Card on your camera (backup pictures first).
If you can't then try to format on your PC. To format on your pC do the following steps:
1) insert your SD card
2) right click the SD Card Drive (make sure you select the correct one) choosing the wrong
drive would cause BIG problems for you. If you don't know which drive it is Do Not Continue
3) Select Format.

If you PC doesn't format properly or has a problem with the card then you know the problem
is the card and not your camera. Make sure also that the SD Card is not Locked.

How do I delete the memory card

Hi. You can format the memory card from the camera's menu options or by inserting your memory card to a card reader/writer then format the memory card using your computer.

If you are using Windows, open file explorer then "my computer" right-click on the memory card drive then select "format". select FAT32 if not selected then click "OK". That will delete all contents of the memory card.

Let me know if you have more questions. Thanks.

Card errow can i format the card or buy a new one

Be careful!
• This operation will destroy all data in the card. If you have already used the card, be sure that you are not about to destroy important image data.
• Some cards come equipped with special built-in functions. Formatting such cards may in some cases cause them to loose their functionality. Before formatting a specialty card, please read the documentation included with the card.
• You cannot format a card that is protected by a write-protect seal. You must remove the seal before formatting. Please discard used seals; write-protect seals should not be reused.

Go to Menu and select the trashcan. Select the symbol that looks like a hammer. Select Yes or No.
• You cannot cancel formatting once the camera has begun executing the format. After selecting YES and pressing the OK button, you must allow formatting to proceed.
• Do not open the card compartment cover, remove the batteries, or disconnect the AC adapter while formatting is in progress (while the lamp is blinking), as doing so may damage the card.

Help with memory card saying unable to format

Hi Eric :)
Please try formatting the Memory card using your computer first in the following manner:
>> Insert the memory card into memory card slot / memory card reader
>> Check the drive letter that it has been assigned by the computer
>> Right click on the drive and select Format option
>> Now this is very important.. Select FAT file system from the drop down options (DO NOT select FAT32).
>> Now Format the card and then try formatting the same card in Camera.
Let me know if that works for you.

Sd card

To reformat the card so the Nikon Coolpix can use it you can use the DOS command 'format' e.g. format g: HOWEVER the default DOS format is FAT32 which the Coolpix will not read. The SD card needs to be formatted in FAT.

Open a DOS command window and type:

Format 'volume' /fs:FAT

Where 'Volume' is the drive letter to be formatted. On my PC this was 'G'. This may be different on your PC. Make sure it isn't an internal drive e.g. C or D!

e.g. format g: /fs:FAT

The card then works OK on the CoolPix
