Resource CD? Did this come with my computer when purchased? I'm not very computer literate.

No you will not loose any of the emails in the account.it will be safe and also your account will be safe after system restore is complete, --------------- but as per the problem which you mentioned of again n again booting.this happens due to many reasons.such as: 1)if the hard disk of the laptop goes corrupted due to virus.or if the internal wire connection of the hard disk gets loose. 2)if the ram(memory of the unit gets faulty) 3)and if the CMOS battery of the laptop gets faulty/weak this happens. ----------- now in the back side of the laptop there are few screws when you remove those screws the plastic latch will get opened.and inside you will see the hard disk and when you remove the hard disk under the side of the hard disk you will see the steel colour round CMOS battery. ram is the green colour long rectangle chip .remove all that wait for 10 minutes and reinsert.and then check .all the things can be easily removed.but before removing check out how they are placed in the unit.so while re-inserting you will not face any problem.if still the same problem.then first replace the CMOS battery and check.it will cost you near to $2 for new CMOS battery.if still the same problem.then its either the hard disk or the ram. and yes before doing all this you please try system restore.but if laptop is booting again n again then system restore procedure will not get completed.but you still try. ------- NOTE:If you are not familiar with doing all this its advisable that a local laptop repair shop technician should handle it. as the cost of replacing hard disk or ram will not be too much. this will help you. thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

Have you tried the Safe mode? if it fails aswell, I'd recommend you do a repair install or use the recovery cd(s) to restore the machine to factory defaults.

I've posted instructions for doing a repair install with a windows installation cd on this page http://www.fixya.com/support/r2314274-blue_screen_start_up_error_failure

Let me know if you need further assistance.

See if you can boot to the F12 menu and run diagnostics on the HDD. If you cannot, see if you can boot to the Resource CD and Run Diags that way. Generally, this is indicative of a failing hard drive, or a corrupt partition table,

Computer will not power up the power light just keeps flashing

Probably power supply, but you can try a different display monitor, try unplugging the hard drive. You need to see your PC go to the BIOS boot screen to do further testing.

Have a Toshiba Qosmio F45-AV411 and downloaded windows 7 last night. worked fine then I put comp in to sleep mode when I tried to turn on today looks like it is booting up and then goes to a black screen...

Try to boot up the computer using safe mode first. Keep on tapping the F8 key the moment you turn on the computer. If your computer wont boot to safe mode then you need to re-install windows 7.

If the fault comes and goes, it may be loose cable connection or dry solder joints.
