Those slide up Samsung phones have always done the same thing to me. Close it and let it go dark and then slide it up and/or turn it off and back(at least thats how i use to solve the problem.) on its just Samsung because I have had several and i swear they have all done the same exact thing!!!
Your phone will have to be repaired or replaced, there is nothing you can do to try to fix it. If you have insurance and there is no physical damage, the phone can be replaced for free with the same make and model.
Go to Samsung website and download PC Studio it is a free program for Samsung phones it will do everything Videos,address book and photo transfers to or from phone.
this program has a bit of a problem finding phone on Vista 64 bit system but will work if you keep trying.
