After every picture I take the screen goes black for a couple of minutes so I cant take more than one photo at a time. I have to power the camera off and turn it back on to take a second pic. The battery is fully charged and the camera is fairly new and lightly used. Any idea how to correct the problem?

once you have moved all the pictures to your computer make sure to disconnect your camera. no need to keep going back and forth.
on your camera try turning it off, pulling the battery out for a couple of minutes. insert battery. turn on. wait until it is fully on, navigate to view pictures.
if black screen is still present you might have zapped your camera while connecting and disconnecting the wire to the computer repeatedly.

its just a matter of batteries...some are not powerful enough to operate the camera ....Try to change them and buy some real good ones..like Duracell or Tatra...do not make any compromises when buy the batteries...get the best cause these kinda cameras really require powerful ones...or ...try to get a set of rechargeable ...
Mine started working again. The only thing I can attribute to it is that I zoomed the lens in and out several times. The next time I turned it on, it worked. Go figure. I'll update if things change.
That sounds like a sticky lens shutter. They usually have to be replaced, as they usually will need parts. When the camera is working look inside the lens and take a picture(with flash turned off). You should see a black shutter door clicking shut in the lens. When the camera acts up, look inside the lens again. If the door is staying shut full time, that is your problem.
It could possibly be because after selecting the "disp." (display) button several times the screen goes black. Simply press the "disp" button until you monitor will show what your camera see's.
Sorry to inform you my freind, but the main board has to be replaced in this beast. Could get expensive. there are no schematics and or componets listed to repair this module. Its a board level repair only. Try going to ptscorp.com, find their phone number, and see if they repair these boards. if not you will need to contact the manufacturer for replacement boards. good Luck
