There is a red wire going to the AC clutch, if you apply direct 12volts will it engage? If so, the constant control relay module (CCRM) could be defective. Hope this helps.

2000 ford escort replaced a/c compressor cant get a/c compressor to engage has freon but no power to comp ?? help ??

this is common if the fuses are good then you have a bad relay, this relay is called a relay module and it has a few relays in it and has to be replaced as a unit, this is located under the air filter housing, heres a picture of it to help you locate it. hope this helps.1406de6.jpg

1999 Ford Escort - the fan is blowing but the air is no longer cold. How do I know if it just needs freon or if it is a bad compressor?

If the compressor is not engaging (the center is not spinning) then it's likely that the r134a is low in the system

Add a an or two to make it work better.

Also, make sure the radiator fan goes on when you turn the a/c on.

Good luck to you.

Ac compressor clutch is not engaging, there is no juice to the wires going to the compressor. the ac switch on the dash has power. fuses are okay

Dear Madam or Sir,

this concern is prpbably due to a lack of coolant. There is a pressure sensor monitoring the system pressure of the A/C system that will interrupt the activation of the A/C compressor to prevent it from being damaged.

If there is not enaugh coolant, the system pressure will drop below a fixed threshold level and the compressor protection circuit will activate.

So you should have the coolant level to be checked at the shop, if it´s OK, put an eye on the pressure switch itself :)

Check the fuse and relay for the compressor clutch. The clutch electrical winding could be open--check at the clutch electrical connection for 12 volts when the system is turned on. There is an interlock switch that prevents the compressor from being turned on if the system detects low freon level. Have that checked first, then worry about the electrics second. Hope this helps!

I have a 1998 ford escort. The system has been evaced and freon added, also the compressor replaced. The compressor will engage.

Your trying to get the AC to cool and it won't because the orfice tube may be stopped up. during the flushing procrdue did alot of **** come out( broken compresser parts if it flushed good and you put on the new recieved dryer that the warrentee of the compresser requires. and it doesnt coll at al the condenser is stopped up. You cant unstopp them just install a new one evacuate and recharge make sure the fan blows hard and your done

A/C compressor on a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8 not engaging.

Low pressure in the system and the clutch will not engage. The low pressure sensor is on it for a reason.
