2 ways. Maybe the software was deleted or damaged. The next would be that the hard drive it self is busted. Try to connect it to other PC and try to update the driver.

it has lost its firmware usually the ata module. or the rom chip has lost the rom bin file.
you need help by equipments from a certain certified engineer to repair hard drives
