Every time I take my battery out while the phone is on, the sidekick deletes my contacts, notes, and stuff on the calender. This also happens durind road trips when I turn my phone off. Whay s this and what can i do to make it stop? Do I need to get a new phone?

Are your pictures, contacts, etc. on the desktop interface still? Go check your desktop interface. If it is, pull the battery let it sit for a moment and place it back in. Turn on the Sidekick and Danger's servers should put your stuff back on your phone.
Sidekick ID does not have the SD card slot, so it can't be an issue with your SD card. This was the first thing that came to mind.
Is the orange light coming on but you have no power? If so, then it is probably not charging. The sidekick 3 charging port is notorious for going bad. The little contacts that send power to battery come loose.
Find a friend that has a sidekick 3 or sidekick ID and try out their battery. If it powers up, it is your charging port.
The easiest thing to do is to get a charging cradle that has a spare battery charging slot. They run about 25 dollars off off ebay and allows you to charge the battery seperate from the phone. A spare battery is good too as it allows you to have one charging at all times.
When the sidekick does a hard reset, it drops all the data until it resyncs with the data servers. When the battery is loose, this is what happens
It sounds like the battery is loose. What you need to do is power the sidekick off. Then firmly reset the battery and place a folded up piece of paper between the battery and the battery cover. This will keep it firmly in place.
Is it a sidekick 3? If so, is it under warranty? If yes, call t-mobile. The sidekick 3 is known to have an issue with charging ports going bad.
If not under waranty, it will run around 100 dollars to fix.
The other option is to get an external charging cradle and a spare battery. Make sure the cradel has a spare battery chargin slot. This will allow you to allows keep one battery charging and one in the phone. Both items will run about 40 dollars on ebay.
