HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

Changing belt maytag legacy dryer sde515dayw model

Have someone else look at the machine, I'm not sure about the last guy. Do smaller loads to ease up on the machine. It will last a lot longer doing more, but smaller loads.

My 5 year old Whirlpool dryer just didn't start one day.Instead of dealing with repair,we got a used 4 year old Maytag dryer. It dried the first load, then when I pushed the start button it made a weird...

It is the motor winding shorted out which caused the smell. If you still have your old dryer the safty thermal located on the exhaust housing is blown. White plastic with 2 wires going to it. Very inexpensive repair. Hope this helps.

After sitting idle for several days, dryer makes a noise at beginning of the cycle when drum stops and starts. Noise no longer occurs after second load dries.

Not sure if your problem has been corrected yet, but the biggest most important task that must be addressed constantly with these machines is lint build up. So I would check your lint trap (change it before or after each load), check your heat exchanger/air inlet on the lower right hand corner of your machine, and then your condensation hose - to make sure that this is clear of blockage. Also, your machine should be in a vented, open area where it gets lots of air. Adequate ventilation is another important feature that affects these machines. So basically, I'd give it a little tune-up/clean-up and see how it runs. Hopefully, this has already worked for you. Good Luck!

The Kenmore dryer worked for one load, pushed start button for next load and it makes a hum noise at the start button and won't start

This is probably the motor going bad. The sensors wont cause this to happen. The start switch either, replacing all the sensors in the world wont make the motor be good again. But their is something you can do to try and make the motor last a while longer, their isn't any holes to oil the dryer motor so you must make some, using a 1/8th inch drill bit make a hole in either end of the motor where the bearings are (taking care not to hit the shaft), then add some hi temp oil such as zoom-oil, (dont use WD-40) and work the motor free as you can by hand. If this frees up the motor it may go a while longer. Also oil the rollers and check the slides to make sure they are not pinching and stalling the motor. If the motor can't reach top speed it will get hot, overload and stop.

Whirlpool model # lgr7646ez3

Here are a list of causes that may contribute to this lack of sufficient drying.

CAUSE
• Lint screen is clogged with lint.
• Restricted air movement.
Exhaust vent or outside
exhaust hood is clogged with
lint.
• Exhaust vent is crushed or
kinked.
• One fuse is blown or circuit
breaker is tripped. The dryer
will appear to operate, but you
will not get any heat.
• Cycle Control knob or temperature
selector is set on air dry.
• Load not contacting the sensor
strips and automatic cycle
ending early.
• Fabric softener sheets blocking
exhaust grill.
• Dryer located in room with
temperature below 45ºF (7ºC).
• Large amount of moisture in
the load.
• Cold rinse water used.
• Load too large and bulky to
dry quickly.

Here are the solutions to combat the issues.

SOLUTION
• Clean lint screen.
• Run dryer for 5-10 minutes. Hold hand under
outside exhaust hood to check air movement. If you
do not feel air moving, clean exhaust system of lint
or replace exhaust vent with heavy metal or flexible
metal vent.
• Replace with heavy metal or flexible metal vent

• Replace fuse or reset breaker.
• Select the right cycle and temperature for the types
of garments being dried.
• Level dryer.
• Use only one softener sheet per load and only use
it once.
• Move dryer to a location with temperatures above
45ºF (7ºC).
• Expect longer dry times with items that hold more
moisture (cottons).
• Expect longer dry times.
• Separate load to tumble freely.

This will help you fix this problem. i suspect an exhaust obstruction.

Heavy loads (e.g., jeans, etc) is tripping the circuit breaker

WOW, 10yrs was a good investment of your money. Anyhow large amp loads may be contributed to the motor or fatigued heating elements. Also the breaker can wear out if its ran loaded for extended periods. Here are a few things you can try. Check to ensure that the barrel sleeve rings are in good condition so that there would be less drag on the motor and fix the obvious. Then change your breaker out and change the electrical outlet. if your not comfortable with changing these two items DON'T DO IT.
TIP OF THE DAY--To reduce the suction draft and drying time your drier and save some cash, remove the lint catcher and take it to the sink. Run water into it, if there is excessive pooling of the water (water not running straight through) then fabric softener is fouling the lint screen. Use a small brush and dish detergent to clean it and then shake off all the water and dry the screen. Remember this tip on future driers and you will make the dryer blower motor last much longer. :?)
