Freezer won't turn on at all

Obtained a small holiday [by lowe's] upright freezer [WUF5/C]that was being abandoned because it won't turn on at all. when plugged in the compressor isn't trying to start.
this model doesn't have an interior light to help determine if it's getting power.
i don't see any obvious shorts or power cord damage so i suspect it's something else. any suggestions on what to start looking at?

First , disconnect the power to the freezer . Remove the thermostat ( piece with the dial ) and put the 2 wires togather . Reconnect power and see if compressor will start . If so , then the thermostat is bad . You would have to order from a parts house .

Testimonial: "thanks. i wasn't sure if the thermostat was the first place to check. i can get my hands on a volt/ohm meter to test it too!"

Hi, We have an under-counter freezer (Zanussi ZU9120F) we bought 4 years ago. Before going on holidays we turned it off and let the water evaporate. After our return, we turned it on again but it did...

It could be stuck in defrost mode. However if you can locate the defrost timer pictured here:
You can advance to turn on controls, compressor. If it sticks it should be replaced.
