Lower your needle with the presser bar behind the machine. you're in bobbin winding mode when it's at 11 oclock when you look from behind and 2 oclock facing front of machine.

I'm not sure about this particular machine but bump the bobbinwinder over, it should move one way or the other. Also there is a knob on the side on the inside of the handwheel. This is probably loose and you need to hand tighten it a bit. When this is loose it disengages the handwheel from the shaft so your needlebar won't go up and down while you wind a bobbin.
Hope thats it. Good luck.

How to wind a bobbin for a 250 electronic Viking Husqvarna machine

Make sure that the presser foot is raised if you are winding a bobbin with the top thread threaded through the needle. Place the bobbin on the spool spindle with the mark (a stylized H) outwards. Bring the bobbin spindle down. Next pull the thread from the needle under the presser foot to the thread guide on the right. Bring the thread above the bobbin and wrap the thread around the bobbin several times. Cut off the excess thread on the thread knife and step on the foot control to wind the bobbin. When the bobbin winding is finished, remove the bobbin from the spindle. Cut the thread to separate the bobbin thread from the needle thread. Move the bobbin spindle up.

Sewingpartsonline.com has a link to the manual for the Husqvarna Viking 250 on the machine specific parts page (under Manuals), http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/viking-250-sewing-machine-parts.aspx . The direct link to the manual is http://manuals.husqvarnaviking.com/VSM/Husqvarna%20Viking/HVManual.nsf/5bc6115484660075c12575d2003f80e3/ecf97dd171581582852575ed00755e7a/$FILE/Viking%20210,%20230,%20250%20%20x.PDF . The bobbin winding steps are on page 12. There is also a method for winding a bobbin with a different thread from the top thread. See the manual.

I hope this helps.

Can the presser foot be raised slightly on pfaff tiptronic 2030 to facilitate free motion quilting? There is not enough clearance with feed dogs down to freely move material to quilt. Thank you.

You need a special foot for free motion quilting--it is slightly shorter in height than a regular presser foot, which essentially provides space between the presser foot and the needle plate to manually move the fabric. Sometimes machines came with a standard darning foot accessory. Your Pfaff dealer probably has at least one style in stock. But there are other specialty feet you can probably use, ie Big Foot, clear free motion foot, C-shaped, oval, etc. You can also purchase a shank adapter (verify it is the correct shank for your machine) and use it with a kit of snap-on presser feet so you can have a variety of presser feet for different functions.

Presser foot up, takeup lever at the top, thread the machine normally all the way and through the needle, open the needle plate, press the little lever to the right, wind the thread from the needle round the presser foot screw, press on the foot control slowly and wind the bobbin, when you have enough thread on the bobbin close the slide plate the winder will drop down, pull the threads to the back of the machine and start sewing

I need a manual for a singer touch and sew machine. It,s pretty old so i gope you can help me. I don,t know how to wind the bobbin. Help!!

Unlikely you will get a manual but here are the instructions.
Presser foot up, thread the top of the machine as normal all the way and through the needle, open slide plate, push the little button to the side and the winder will raise, take the thread from the needle and wind it round a few times round the screw that holds the presser foot on, gently press on the foot control and the needle will go up and down winding the bobbin, when you have enough thread on the bobbin close the slide plate and you will hear the winder drop down, pull the thread to the back of the machine and you are ready to sew

I only want to know if the wheel must be loosened to wind the bobbin and if so with direction, to the front or backwards and press and turn or pull and turn.thanks

Which make and model sewing machine do you have?

None of my sewing machines need the wheel to be loosened for bobbin winding. The Singer Touch & Sew bobbins are filled in place. Use the handwheel to get the needle into the highest position (just turn the wheel). Wrap the top thread around the screw that holds the presser foot; open the slide plate part way and press the bobbin wind button. Hold the top thread and then begin winding by stepping on the foot pedal.. The thread should break after a few winds.

The Kenmore and the Husqvarna Vikings both get wound at the top. Place bobbin on winding pin. With the needle up and metal presser foot in place thread the top thread up to the bobbin (through the guides) and up through the hole in the bobbin. Slide the bobbin winding switch over towards the bobbin. Hold the thread tightly and begin winding (step on the foot control). After a few winds are on the bobbin, cut the thread that you were holding flush with the top of the bobbin. Continue winding the bobbin. (The newest Viking in the group has a computer screen; on that one, do not press OK until done winding the bobbin.)

However, if the handwheel is not turning and the needle is down, first find out why it isn't turning properly. This could indicate a tangle of thread somewhere in the system. (The older Husqvarna sewing machine in my home has a non-functional handwheel. The machine will still sew but you have to use the needle up/down switch that forces the needle to stop in the up position before you run out of bobbin.)

Please add a comment with the specifics of your sewing machine and I'll be glad to add additional information.

I hope this helps.

How to fill a bobbin on singer sewing machine model 6268

Raise the presser foot and turn the hand wheel to put the needle at the highest position. Next open the slide plate by sliding it towards you. Make sure the bobbin is empty (remove any remaining thread or use a new bobbin). Slide the plate forward (partially closed) so that the arrow on the plate lines up with the arrow on the machine bed. Bring the thread from the needle under the presser foot and wind it around the presser foot screw (on the left of the assembly) once. Make sure that the thread is in the spring groove. Press the One-step Button hole A button (has a bobbin symbol by it). Then begin running the machine. Watch the winding process carefully and stop when you have enough thread on the bobbin. Do not let the thread continue to wind past the outermost line on the bobbin (black). Slide the plate fully closed and raise the needle. Pull the thread to the back of the machine to a length of 4" and cut the thread in the middle of the loop you just pulled through.

Now position your fabric under the presser foot, lower the presser foot and select your stitch. Begin sewing.

The manual is available for sale or download here: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals/search . Just enter the model number. The direct link is: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1272_6268-_-6268_6267-wholeas-of-6_23_05-special.pdf . Pictures for winding the bobbin are on page 16 (page 18 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

Pfaff Model 1222. The drive belt seizes up and

Try lowering the presser foot lever one click down (needle down presser foot up position). You maybe in the bobbin winding mode that is why it is locked up for your safety, you don't want to puncture any body part while winding the bobbin. It locks up the needle and the balance wheel while it allows the winder to spin.

Cannot turn the balance wheel - new machine to me. Pfaff 1222E

You have to lower the presser foot by one click to release it from bobbin winding mode. This mode is the same as needle down while presser foot is up so you can turn your work when it needs to go a different direction.
