Hello,
There is a problem with the RAM: incompatibility, modules not firmly seated.

If you install new modules, try installing one in a slot, boot. If it works insert second module and boot.

If it does not work for 1st module, try changing the slot where module is inserted. For certain computers, if only one slot is occupied, module must be in one particular slot.

If you kept one of the old modules, it may not be compatible with the new ones.
Hope it helps

I'm working on a Sony vaio pcv-rx690g desktop and I added a usb card, took out the rd ram to see if it was the same type as the one i have, made sure to touch the metal case to remove any electromagnetic...

Unplug everything from the computer except for the power and the monitor and turn it back on to see if it still has one long beep. If it dosen't then there was a problem with one of the devices plugged in (keyboard mouse etc).

If it still has one long beep then turn it off and remove the RAM and boot it back up. If the same beep is still there than that stick of RAM is no good. If there is no long beep then re-insert the RAM and try again. remove the Hard drive and try to boot u to see if you can get rid of that beep so you can figure out which component has gone bad.

There is a good chance that the stick of RAM you touched went bad, not your fault it happens all the time.

Hope this helps

Upgrading ram on laptop, new ram not recognized.

remove the bios battery for a few seconds...and place it back on ...this will make it see the new ram memory modules...if you are sure they are compatible ..they will work .....in fact ..the ddr1 333 512 M is more that compatible with your system and it will work after you remove the battery ...\ my recommendation is to reinstall a clean operation system after you boot up ...and format the C partition too...this have to be done after memory changes to get the max out of them ..

Continuous Long Beeps, No Video During Boot - GA-M61VME-S2 MB

Hi.

Continuous long beeps indicate memory fault. You can try and put your memory in each of the slots. After all, maybe memory slot is faulty, not the memory itself. Clean the slots with a brush and try again. There is no need to remove PCI expansion cards nor any other hardware. If the beeps continue even with memory that you are sure is working, then it is a motherboard problem. You also tried resetting the BIOS and that's good solution. Hope it helps.

Installed more memory into Compaq V2000

The new ram you have installed, is it the same speed/type as what is already in the system?
Take out the new ram and leave the old in. Try and boot. If all ok, swap out the old ram for the new and see if you can boot. If the system does not boot when trying one of the above, you know it's bad ram. If the system boots with the old ram and the new ram installed seperately, i'ts likely that you have two different types of ram. Check your old ram and see what spec it is. Your new ram should be the same. Compaq do not list a four beep error on boot, but my guess is conflicting ram.

Dell Inspiron 1100 won't read 512 Meg ram.

I had the same problem. I tried several brands of memory unsuccessfully, though they all guaranteed that their products would work with my machine. Finally, my brother (who works in IT) recommended that I go through The Upgrade Place (http://www.theupgradeplace.com/). Great price - less than half of what Dell charges - and the memory worked immediately upon installation.

When I told them that I had a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, they said that my PC required proprietary memory (which is true). I paid with a credit card and received the part two days later.

Good luck,

Having trouble with memory upgrade for Toshiba laptop

I don't see anything about DDR2 I do see DDR SODIMM.

Kingston ( a company owned by Toshiba) has the specs you need for your pc. Here is the link:

I have a presario compaq v3230AU lap top that does not boot.the power turns on but the screen remains blank.wat could be the problem.please advice

Hi there. It would help if you provided more info regarding your problem. The follwing would be good startpoints:

1. What was the last time you were able to do with the laptop?
2. Have you made changes [immediately] before the issue started happening?
3. How old is the PC?
4. What are its specifications (ie.CPU speed, memory type and size, OS, etc.)
5. Have you experienced this same problem before using the same computer, or on another computer?

Well, here's a shot in the dark. If the unit is, say more than 5 years old, it's probably a hardware defect. Meaning your unit's screen display data connection is already out of order. This usually happends to laptops with data connections too compactly embedded between the hinge of the laptop lid and chassis.

Your laptop can have up to 1 GB of memory. You should have two slots and you can install 512 MB per slot. Your laptop is using 200 Pin DDR PC2100 266 MHz CL 2.5 SODIMM. You can also install PC3200, but your laptop will clock it down to 266 MHz.
