Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Model 24AF46 TV that displays a bright horizontal line across the middle of the screen. Below the line, the abbreviated/vertically compressed picture occurs in a trapezoidal area. The screen is otherwise blank above the horizontal line and below the two-inch wide trapezoidal area. 1)What is the matter with the TV? 2)If it needs to be repaired, what do you estimate the cost to be?

Repairs to the control board vary depending on where you live USA EU AU. But guessing I would say between 2 and 300. If you explain as you have here to any repair group they can give you a close estimate.

It is always cheaper to transport it to be repaired than having a callout so you can save some $$ in that exercise.

Failure of vertical scan output circuit. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

JVC AV-27730: horizontal bright line across screen in the

it could be an electrolytic capacitor or the vertical output I.C. in the vertical circuitry,if you remove the rear cover tap on the board in different places and see if the picture fills out or atleast jitters like it might fill out, then it could be just a cold solder joint, then remove the main board and resolder all joints and this should repair the condition you have

If this is a tube type or crt type. Your vertical circuit has a problem. Could be the vertical IC loose connection on its board. Or the vertical ic itself is faulty. If just resoldering or refluxing of its pins doesn't help check some minor cmponent within vertical circuit. Or the vertical ic is defective already.

If your not inclined on electronics never do the repair itself, nasty voltages might caught you.

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

POP and noothiing

yes it can still be fixed! the pop sound you've heard maybe came from a blown capacitor in the vertical deflection circuits. this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
