Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

My 1953 (the year 1953) Dayton 5K683 electic motor smokes when plugged in if there is any load (like like the belt connecting it to the table saw blade.) I know my father never oiled it. Does it just need oiling? How do I oil it?

You dont oil electric motors if it is smoking then it is burning out ,take it off and take it to amotor rewinder they can test it before starting the job but i must say that 56 years is a good run out of anything.my missus is starting to wear out and i`v only had her for 45 years .

My Dewalt saw smokes when I run it. I put new

What smokes? The motor or the blade or the belt(s).
I'd immediately contact the place I bought it and talk with their representative, like NOW. If it 's new, there should be no need for brushes or anything else.

Not right, naturally.

10yr old table saw smells hot and trips breaker

Maybe, but first rule out several other things. Has the saw been recently overloaded - heavy cuts with a dull blade? You may have a partially burnt-out motor (which means the insulation on the wire in the windings has partially melted.) Has it been used recently or used now with an extension cord or to an outlet wired with 15 ga wire? Is the saw arbor hard to turn by hand (with the belt removed)? Does the motor overheat with no load (remove the belt and let it run for 10 minutes)? Try running the saw with the belt on, but not cutting for 10 minutes.
Good luck!

Einhell table saw 1500 watt is smoking

Maybe you have a 220V saw that you are running on 110V? It would spin, but would have little power and would quickly overheat due to too much current through the windings. The motor could well be toasted already.

For about six months my bosch table saw has imtermitent motor problems sometimes it works other times it doesn't now the motor is smoking how do i get a new motor

Parts diagram is here.

Looks like you can't just buy a new motor.

Service center locator is here. Click the Portable Electric & Battery Power Tools button. Put in your zip code and you can call around to see who can fix you up the quickest.

It looks like warranty on this saw is one year. Depending on how old your saw is, it may even be covered under warranty.

Replacement motor for table saw craftman model #113.12171 zip code 11725

I would suggest taking the motor to a Grainger or equivelant type of business and they can probably match it up with a Dayton motor that would replace this one. They will need all the information off the data tag to match it up.

Craftsman table saw 1 1/2 hp trys to to start but motor appears to bind, will not rotate but a couple of inches. Can turn blade and belt by hand. Tried starting several times but starts to trip electical...

The 'start capacitor' has failed. It's under the little cover located on the side of the motor. Remove and go to a 'motor rewind or repair shop'. If you don't have a motor shop near by, go to grainger.com. The cap has a microfarad rating (uF) and a voltage rating, go by those two ratings to replace.
