Problem connecting my easycam to my PC

I am trying to connect my easycam to my PC. I have turned the camera and computer on and plugged in a USB cable. Then, when I press the "computer connection" icon on my camera it says "connecting...Do not unplug the USB cable. Do not turn off the power" It's been like this for hours so it seems obvious that something is wrong. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Sounds like the 'new hardware detected' feature is not working - uninstall any software that has been installed and download the software and user manual from here

Camera saying connection fail when trying to transfer photos to pc via usb cable

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

hi kbailey. Turn on the camera and go to the menu. find the reset function. Reset the camera. This means you are returning it to all of the settings it was at when it was brand new out of the box. Joe
Thanks for choosing Fixya!

USB DEvice not recognized

I had a problem like this -- tried plugging the camera in to the rear USB slots not the front ones and it worked fine.

I think that it doesn't like going via a USB hub, but wants a direct connection. All of the USB ports on my computer are connected direct to the motherboard (i.e. none are on PCI cards or anything), but looking at the hardware info for the computer, it looks like the motherboard has a few "direct" USB connections, and then an on-board hub which the front ports connect to. If your computers are the same, that would explain things. I'd suggest trying each USB port one at a time (turn the camera off before plugging in, and back on when in) and see if one of them works. Wouldn't hurt to power the camera from the mains at the time too.

You will probably have to go into "My Computer" and find your camera in the "Devices with Removable Storage". It should be there, otherwise, try plugging it into a different USB jack on your computer, if you have one.
