Question about NEC ND-6500A DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner
THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT MAKING A DVD FOR TV VIEWING: HAVE TRIED 5 TIMES WITH NO RESULTS. I FEEL SILLY ASKING, BUT...
DOES THE NEC DVD=RW ND-6500A ACTUALLY "BURN" DVD'S ?
I AM A BETTER THAN AVERAGE PHOTOSHOP USER OF ORGANIZER AND ELEMENTS; AFTER MAKING A SLIDE SHOW, THEN INTO A MWV AND WORKING ON IT AS A "MOVIE" IN ELEMENTS WITH TEMPLATE, MENU, SCENES ETC. I AM UNABLE TO MAKE A DVD OF THAT PROJECT,
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BURN ON A DVD AND ALLOWING FOR
1. PROPER SIZE TO FIT ON DVD+R
2. APPROPRIATE QUALITY LEVEL TO NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO THE LIMITS OF THE DISC
THE DVD DRIVER WORKS FOR AN HOUR (OR MOVE DEPENDING UPON THE LENGTH OF THE PROJECT INVOLVED), FINISHES THE PROGRESS AND EJECTS TO HAVE A BLANK DVD AND "ERROR" MESSAGE. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING THAT I CAN LOGICALLY ATTEMPT WITH MY GIVEN EXPERIENCE...IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP, EXPLAIN, CLARIFY.
I see that you are using a DVD+R disc...Some drives can only do + or -. Have you tried using a DVD-R disc? You could also check and see if there is a firmware update from the NEC website.

I've always had better luck with DVD-R than DVD+R. Make sure that you're saving it to a correct format. You want to save it to an NTSC 720 x 480 setting (MPEG 2) and Not MPEG4. After you save the file, you might need to use a separate program like NERO to actually burn the DVD for you. What format does it save your file as? Is it an ".ISO" or ".WMV" or ".AVI" or what format, or suffix does the file have? Videos are pretty tricky. I would also try to use the slower burning speed, like burn at 8x instead of 16x. I would go to "settings" or "options" and see what your options are for how you're going to save your file. Good luck and report back and I'll try and help you somemore.
