NOTE:- TV repair is qualified tech job because there is electric shock risk involve. Be careful if you are repairing TV. Unplug TV from wall socket for few hours before to open it back cover.

Symptom shows there are few electrolytic capacitors in power supply board that are weak / leaky and needs to be replaced.
You need to inspect physically these capacitors as their top would be bulged or you will see liquid on bottom of capacitor cylinder.
Replace these capacitors with same value that is written on them.
Thanks.

This is a faulty solenoid, Much like the starter switch in a fluro tube.

It will need to be replaced, preferably by a technician as there are usually other small componenents that also are involved.

Hi there,

Well it sounds like an internal power supply fault or convergence ICs are bad and some low ohm resistors and or low amp fuses with some cold solder connections.
post back the model number of your TV for more information...

Thanks

Most likely it's a power supply failer.

How do you tell if the starter has gone out?

Well....the car doesn't start. If you turn the key and you only hear a click, click, click it is the most common sign it is out. If you try to start and it sounds like a high pitched spinning then it could be out or you could have a bald spot on your fly wheel. That is a more expensive problem

Toshiba HD ready TV ct 90158 makes high pitched sound

A high pitch sound can be a capacitor losing power it would sound a bit like a fire work. most have back up on the board but it put more pressure on them the more times you use the tv. would check them and replace. all of them can be 5 in a row in some models.

Rca 27410tyx1 will not shut off

Sounds like trouble in the standby/power up circuit. have you tried unplugging the TV for a half hour and seeing what happens? It might start up but I think this problem won't go away. If you heard a high pitched buzzing it sounds like a problem in the high voltage not letting the start up circuit work. threy are related. The start up circuit waits for the high voltage to stablize and then switches it on.

Mother board problem

The noise must be coming from the power supply. The only thing running before you press the power on button is the PSU.
Unplug the power cord on the PSU. Check the back of the PSU for a red slide switch. Make sure it is set for 115v. Than disconnect the main power from the motherboard. Plud in the power cord, (still hear the high pitch noise?). Swap out your power supply.

Television won't power up

It sounds like the high voltage circuit got damp and arced. This arc caused the horizontal output transistor to short.
You might try replacing the output transistor if you're experienced in this type of repair. If not then you need to take it to a repair shop.
The "whistle " you're hearing is the power supply indicating that it has a short on its load. When the power supply has an over load (short) its frequency drops down when your ear can hear it oscillating. This type of power supply is a switching power supply normally operating a several thousand hz(cycles) which is out of range of human hearing.

TV won't stay turned on, no picture, started making high pitched noise

That high pitched noise you're hearing is the power supply telling you that it has too much of a load on it and lowered its operating frequency which in effect cuts its output way down! Normally you don't hear any thing since the power supply operates at a frequency that's beyond human hearing. In an RCA this indicates more than likely that your horizontal output transistor is shorted and this short was caused by the flyback transformer shorting. This is a common happening with RCA's You'd need to take to a tv shop and have it checked out. Stargazer
