Hi there,

Well problem seems in the Idler pulley -
Dryers have a tension or idler pulley that keeps tension on the main drive belt. When it's worn, it can be noisy. When that happens, don't lubricate it. Just replace it.

Post further comments for more information....

Good Luck!!!

Thanks

Squeaking is normally caused by a bad bearing or a slipping drum belt.

Really Bad Squeeky Noise

It could be a squeal from the dryer belt. It could be from a belt that has gotten loose, like you hear on a car sometimes when it first starts up, but usually they don't get loose. They just break. Maybe something has gotten jammed between the dryer drum and the interior of the dryer making it hard for the belt to turn the drum and so it is squealing. Does the drum turn by hand without too much force and without squealing?

Dryer runs and heats but has squeaking noise. Drum seems to labor mid cycle and then shuts off. If I turn cycle to off and wait unit will resed and begin cycle again with normal heat. Squeaks in on off...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The squeaking sound comes when the belt is either broken or worn out and needs replacement or the idler pulley is bad. If you want to do this yourself then you can check this video on YouTube:

Very loud squeaking noise - like a noisy loose fan belt on a car.

The dryer needs to be rebuilt, new drum belt and drum rollers to cure this problem.

Our dryer has a terrible squeak. We replaced the

The terrible squeak is probably the idler pulley shaft spalling in the idle pulley mount. When the idler pulley siezes to to pulley shaft it spins in the mount and makes a horrible racket.

It can be the motor bearings also but I doubt it at this time. With the belt off you can spin the motor and listen for any odd sound. If you hear nothing then the problem is definately the idler pulley assy.

It is normal for the drum to float in place. When there is a problem with the drum or drum felts, you usually hear a cyclic scrape or grinding sound that is concurrent with each rotation of the drum.

Thanks for using FixYa.

My dryer makes squeaking noise just on the begining of circle. After few minutes it stops. What that could be?

there are rollers that the drum rides on that could be doing this,or the pulley that the belt attaches to,some dryers have glides on the front bulkhead or like frigidaire the drum rides on a back bearing that wears down, one more thing to check is the blower wheel, next time send brand name and model number, take out the drum and move the rollers and pulley by hand or try rotating the drum by hand to see if you hear the noise, see if it's in the front or back of drum and go from there

The dryer is making a terrible squeaking sound.

That my friend is the sound of metal to metal on the rear drum bearing. The drum has a ball mounted on the rear of it affectionately known in the biz as a trailer ball. It rides in a grease slathered plastic bearing. The bearing is mounted with a metal bracket. Over time the plastic will wear down and the ball will begin to meet the metal mount.
The mount will begin to act like a guillotine and actually eventually cut the ball off 85a72c7.jpgand the drum will fall into the heating element and the resulting massive breakdown only occurs on a sunday night. LOL

Maytag dryer squeaks during cycle

if replacing the rollers didn't fix the squeak, you need to replace the teflon drum slides and drum gasket material. mine sqalled so much it would run you out of the room. now it's quiet.

Makes squeaking noise after running for about 10 minutes

there are 2 drum rollers at the back of the dryer. shut off power, pull drum and you will see 2 rubber wheels. there is a little plastis triangle that keeps the roller in place. try spinning the rollers . they probably will not spin too freely. remove triangles ,inspect inside of roller the stainless steel bearing may have gunk on it try to clean off . also check shaft roller rides likewise remove any debri use a little rubbing alcohol to remove gunk. also check the idler roller that routes the belt for the same things. good luck
