SFC scannow will only restore missing windows files, and the drivers for your cd rom are unique to that laptop. Try visiting windows update first, and see if they offer you the needed drivers. (See here.)
If not, go to the laptop manufacturer's support site and you should be able to download drivers for your model. Save them to your desktop. Then follow the instructions in this guide to update them. (Your windows may look slightly different, the article was written for xp, but instructions still hold.)

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Vista Blue Screen (Not BSOD)

When you try to use Windows Vista, Windows Vista may not behave as expected. For example, some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop responding. This issue may occur if a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted. To resolve this issue, use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue, and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps: 1 Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. 2 Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect or corrupt versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Okay, to check and replace missing system files, follow these directions. Make sure you have the ORIGINAL operating system cd (XP ?) in the CDrom Drive:

Start > Run > cmd (ok)

This will open a Command Shell (black window), and in this you type:

sfc /scannow

Here is mroe on the command from MS:

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/system_file_checker.mspx?mfr=true

and another pretty good page on its use:
