Have you tried changing the air filter on the bottom and allowing the unit to cool off, sometimes they overheat and this is what is causing the malfunction.

You will need to replace the lamp in the projector.the orange is blinking because the lamp of the projector needs replacement.if you have replaced the lamp and its still blinking orange.then the lamp needs to be resetted. procedure to reset is RESETTING THE LAMP HOUR COUNTER The unit is designed prevent the lamp from lighting when the lamp counter has been used for 1900 to 2000 hours. This is to protect the lamp module. When this occurs, replace the lamp module with a new one and use the following procedure to reset the counter. RESETTING THE LAMP HOUR COUNTER 1. Turn the Master Power off using the red button located near the AC input jack. 2. Hold down the “ENTER”, “ADJ(lower arrow)” and “ADJ(forward arrow)” buttons simultaneously on the projector. While keeping them depressed, turn on the Master Power with the switch near the AC input jack. (See diagram below) 3. The unit should power up when you do this and the lamp should light. Look for “000H” to be displayed on the screen, which will confirm you have reset the counter to zero. Note: It is possible that you may have to perform these steps 4 or 5 times before it works correctly. Also, on some models, you may have to continue to hold the buttons and press the Power button on the front of the unit after turning on the Master Power. Note 2: Be sure to orient yourself correctly when working performing this on a ceiling mounted projector – it is easy to confuse which buttons are “down” and “right” in this case. this will help. ----- thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

The projector is on protect mode because an internal fault had been detected.

Try first leaving the power cord unplugged for one or two hours.

If that does not work there is an internal fault.

If the lamp light is not on, common faults can concern PSU board, ballast board and controller board.

Parts are available here.

If the lamp light is blinking, then you need to replace the lamp.

Try first replacing the lamp and see if this can get rid of the problem. If it does not it is often the lamp power board, that can trigger the same lamp service light.

The owners manual has detailed instructions with pictures explaining how to replace the lamp.

Aug 07, 2009 - OK, I found the answer...there was a problem with the updated Windows service pack. I had to uninstall all applications(even in recycle bin) of all previous service packs including the new service pack 3. Then, went to Windows update and reinstalled the service pack 3 only and after installation, my ipod came to life! It was beautiful....Must be a compliant problem with the packs...I don't know!
