It sounds as though the ground has been lost either at the batteries or along the way from the battery. Check for a good ground at the grounding shunt by using a known live source. If that is good you can run through the process of elimination by checking from the ground shunt to the pigtails, make sure each one is clean and tight. The fuses are often found to be corroded within, if this is the case you might want to change them over to marine quality breakers. It's worth it in the long run. Also make sure your constant feed to the bilge pump is live, it doesn't make sense for those two units to be out, especially the bilge pump. Check the back of your main battery switch for any corrosion or loosness.

Engine turn over wont start

Assume you have gas. BMW does not like to start or run if the battery voltage gets too low (for example sitting in the driveway unused. It does not take long with all the electrical drain(computer, security, etc.). A peculiar item about M cars is if the oil gets 3 quarts low, the engine wont start to protect the engine. Other less common camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, ignition coil pack, fuel filter, fuel pump. If it does not crank but battery is fine, check the starter. Turn the ignition to ON but not START then if you cannot hear the fuel pump humming, the fuel pump itself or a relay to it is probably bad. Using a rubber mallet, give a couple of sharp blows to the underside of the fuel tank and then try to start. If it starts, fuel pump is bad. Fuel pump is located under the back seat on the passenger side-easy to get to.

Battery getting discharged!!

Of course the electrical items don't work when the battery is out, the battery is the source of all electrical power used in your motorcycle. Discharging within 20 days ... a battery sitting all alone by its self will lose about 1% of its charge daily just because ... it is not a law ... a rule of thumb. Typically, the alternator on a motorcycle is there to charge the battery, (not run the bike) the battery's job is to provide electrical power to the items on your bike, in the amounts needed, at the proper time. Typically, after you start the engine, the alternator has to 'work hard' to get the battery caught up, because of the power removed from the battery by the starter. After that, the alternator just cruises along charging the battery when required and resting when no charging is required. Have you added accent lights to your motorcycle? If yes, the receiver for the remote control operates all the time and will drain your power faster than the 1% per day previously stated.

To overcome this problem (it would appear you are not an every day rider) get yourself a "battery maintainer" a small charger that attaches to your battery via a plug. Plug the maintainer in when you are not riding and your battery will be fully charged every time you want to ride. BTW, if your battery is low or dead and you jump it to get going, you will not necessarily start charging your battery just because the motor is running. Alternators require 12 volts in (from the battery) to get charging power (for the battery) out.

Po386 code still in computer but ses light is off. why is code still in computer

If the codes are not cleared from the computers memory they will remain indefinitely even though the check engine light is off. The fact the light is off means the problem has been repaired successfully. You can try disconnecting the battery or better yet use a code reader to clear the codes. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

1998 Olds Bravada 4.3 liter engine. Electrical problems with no fuel gauge, temp gauge, low fuel light works all the time (with full tank)windshield wipers front and back, windshield washer, cruise...

Disconnect battery ? Hoping for a magical fix ? Battery light on means there is a charging system problem , alternator not the battery . Do you know how to do automotive electrical circuit testing ? If not your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .
How To Check Charging System EricTheCarGuy Some of the problems are likely do to a low voltage condition . It would also have the vehicle control modules checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! Doing electrical testing of the circuits of the thing's not working etc... is the way to find the problem .
Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know
It takes years to learn how to do electrical test correctly . Someone who has no clue shouldn't even try .

The on car computer tells me I have a stoplight out when I indicate and when I brake it says that the indicator is fulty. all bulbs have been changed to no avail.Car is a 407 but did not have that option.

any other electrical faults? any aftermarket electrical equipment been fitted about the same time as the light problems?(phone chargers, Sat nav',  etc.-remove temporarily to make sure they are not interfering with operation of electrics) are you sure all the bulbs fitted are the correct type - a twin filament bulb fitted where a single should be perhaps? maybe remove any bulbs fitted recently and see what happens. poor battery condition/low voltage/dirty connections at battery or earth wires can cause electrical problems like this. give more details of vehicle - year, model, spec etc. and say if problem is intermittent or every time you use the brake +/or the indicator. if you have a tow bar and trailer light socket fitted to it water entry into the socket could be the problem.

I seem to be having a simlar problem to several 406 owners, but none seems quite the same - any advice appreciated! 2002 406 L 90 HDI Remote key fob fails to work at all, even with new battery in fob....

Check for fuel and spark, For fuel it's as simple as removing your air filter and spraying carb cleaner while cranking. If still no start, then carefully remove a plug wire, insert screwdriver into wire (make sure you are not touching any metal or wood part of the screwdriver, you should be using a insulated plastic screwdriver) and crank the car while keeping the metal part of the screwdriver close to any metal on the car, within a quarter inch. This will narrow your problem to spark or fuel. If it starts while spraying the carb cleaner, then you have a problem in your fuel system, either a relay, bad pump or severely clogged filter.

Garmin fishfinder 160 blue . no powerup

I have a 160 blue also, and this morning I had the same problem. I called tech support while I was out on the water but no help. When I got home I double checked my connections on the battery minder/selector and the fuse panel. My GPS worked fine but the FF only beeped, like it had low power and the display wouldnt come up. It came up once for about a second and then faded earlier on the water. I pulled the power and ground connections from the fuse block and put them directly on the battery, it came right up. I now run the FF wired straight to the single battery and the GPS and other items on my other battery.

Hope it helps.

Engine won't run properly then dies and won't start without charge

Sounds like your alternator is shot. Remove your alternator and take it into Advance Auto Parts store and they can do a test on it. Don't waste any more money on batteries until you get this checked.

Also, don't be fooled by some sellers. A rebuilt alternator is just as good as a new one.
