Many Bad Sectors fat32, trying recovery disk

Earlier today, I'd asked about the blue screen of death and fat32 files on my aspire 3000. I finally got the recovery disk to work, it's only at 25% recovery, and has been showing many, many bad sectors, marking them, etc.
This is my second time to start the recovery process, earlier it has stopped at about 25% or so, because of the bad sectors.
What do I do from here, if this cannot be fixed?

If you have many bad sectors your disc is toast unless it has be regenerated and this may or may not work. Unfortunately if the computer is reading that many bad sectors then more than likely it is unrecoverable. The best thing you could do at this point if it doesn't successfully recover is take the disc out of the laptop, go get a usb adapter to read the drive on another computer and try to recover as many of your personal files that you can on the other system and save them in a folder on that drive. Then go buy another laptop hard drive and install it. Remember though that new hard drives are not "initialized" and you need to boot the laptop with the included cd to initialize and set up your new drive. Then you can run the recovery disc and reload your system. The use a flash drive and start moving your saved files from the other computer to your laptop. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair

Hi,

It sounds like your HDD is faulty, usually a hardrive can operate with bad sectors but still a risk.

My best advice would be to get a new HDD and recover back on to the new one, even if you did manage to recover onto your current one you may still have problems in the future.

I usually only allow a HDD to fail S.M.A.R.T tests 3 times over any given period and then I just replace them.

Thanks
