Question about IBM Computers & Internet

1 Answer

IBM Think Center A51, 8131-35U will not boot up. Fan comes on but nothing else. Power Supply checks out good. If it is a mother board problem, is it fixable? I tried another hard drive and I do get a couple second flash indicating it is being polled by the system and it does spin up. CD drive seems to work okay too. No video signal out. No beeps or audio.

IF your systems turns on no beeps ...everything seems to work just no display on the screen then i guess would should try discharging your system - ie un plug the power cord take out the Motherboard ,ram , basically take everything apart leave it for a day and connect everything back again ti should work

you have to considered this thing
1. check if the fan of the power supply is working, if not need for repair.
2. check the hard disk if their is a supply and the disk get spin, you will noticed their is a vibration if it is working.
3. check weather the fan of the processor in the mother board is working.if not it could be a power supply failure or a mother board.

My ibm laptop's mother board cannot power on, please help me solve it

The most likely problem is that the onboard power supply has failed, usually a capacitor has burned out. Or it could be a loose DC supply socket (they only need to have one loose pin on the motherboard.)

The power won't come on. The blue light comes on for a second-no sounds-then nothing. Have changed power cords, outlets.

Hi,
i can understand the amount of inconvenience that you are facing.
Please check if the fan of the power supply if it is running or not, if it is not then remove the biggest connector from the mother-board which is coming out from the power supply. then check if the fan runs or not, if it is not then replace the power supply.
If the fan starts to run then please make sure that all the cables coming out from the power supply are properly plugged in the mother-board. Then try changing the slots of the memory(RAM), if you have more than 1 memory stick installed then remove the memory sticks one by one to see if it works.

In case all of this doesn't work then the issue is with the mother board and you need to go to a local technician for further support so that they can check if it can be repaired.

I have an IBM think pad T40 that does absolutely nothing when I try to turn it on. It's actually my daughters, she sid it was working just fine then she shut it down and when she came back an hour later it...

Try taking the batter out and booting using just the power cord and Vice Versus'. Also when the power is plugged in does the charging light (Battery Indicator) blink or light up? If you know the Power Supply is good, then the Mother Board may have fried. If it's under warranty, take the Hard Drive out and send it in.

Emachine will not power up

By nothing else, from a technical standpoint this would mean literally nothing, the CPU fan, power supply fan, aux fan, disk drive not spinning up, etc. My experience with EMachines is their motherboards aint the best, have been known to take out hard drives and other peripherals to the mother board. If you are technically inclined the first thing to do is to bare out the system, Power Supply attached to the Mother Board w/ Cpu Monitor and Keyboard no Hard Drive and no Non esential boards installed, very carefully remove the memory and start it up all should be fine except it should give you a long beep from the PC Speaker indicating the Mother Board is aware there is no memory installed if it will not do this most basic of tests this is not good. If it does give you a health beep continue to install one item at a time, first the memory, the display should, if working, tell you there is a boot failure, of course, the hard drive is not connected, do so and keep on testing. Without knowing what type of mother board you have, most likely an AT with integrated peripherials the process to determine exactly what the problem is would take hands on trouble shooting. If you dont get the beep indicating the mother board cant determine if memory is installed and truley nothing else is on it is more likely the mother board. There are several good ones online that will fit your case if you want to go this route. Or is it time to upgrade ?
