It sounds like your computer is set up for the United Kingdom and not The United enough to drive ya crazy isn't it. Not to fear, this is how you change it.

Go to start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Now here we will take our time and go through all the tabs because there are different settings that have to be changed and when we are done, re-boot the system and you are all set. First tab to click on is "Regional Options" go to the bottom and change your location to "United States". Hit apply after each change, dont re-boot until we are done with all the changes. Now in the upper window, change the standards and formats to (english) United States. Now click on the language tab, on the settings tab, change the input to language to English-United States. In the installed services window below that make sure that english-United States is added and you can delete the United Kingdon if it is there. click apply and ok and you're done with that tab. Now move over to the advanced tab and select English (United States) and hit not worry about the window under that...code page conversion, just reboot and enjoy an American Keyboard. Good Luck, ParrotHead PC Repair

How to enter at for email address on cf 18 toughbook

The "at" symbol also known as "@" is usually
located by pressing "Shift" and the number "2"

However if you have a French Canadian keyboard
then you first have to switch back to US English,
then press "shift" and "2" and then switch back
to French so you can continue to use accents.

A little trick may be to COPY the @ symbol and
then paste it when needed.

Put panasonic cf 29 into safe mode

On ALL Panasonic Toughbooks you can
boot into safe mode as follows:

Make sure the Toughbook is OFF.

Power on the Toughbook and immediately
start to press repeatedly the "F8" function key
which is usually located above the number 7 key.

You only have 2-3 seconds to do this and this
will only work in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

A "text-only" screen will come up. You can then
choose SAFE MODE or if you also need to
    connect to the internet choose:
    Safe Mode with Networking.

Use the UP or Down Arrows to highlight the
selected option and then press Enter.

    That is it.

    Good Luck!

Keyboard is stuck in numeric mode. Can't type

On the Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 there is a key located on the top right next to the F12 function key called "NumLk" or Num Lock.
Press this key once and the embedded numeric keypad is enabled.
Press it a second time and it is disabled.
How do you know if it is enabled or disabled?
Simple: Observe the LED above the keyboard. If the second light with the square symbol and the number "1" is lit up, then the NumLock is enabled. If that LED is not lit up it is disabled.

    Good Luck.
