My rumblepad 2 works fine except the left y axis is inverted. I move forward instead of backwards. I tried the profiler and inverted the axis but nothing happened. Can anyone help me pls?
Simple fix for forward-back movement axis inversion:
In "My Documents\My Games\Gears of *** for Windows\***Game\Config", edit the file "***Input.ini". At the very top, under the section "[Engine.PlayerInput]", change your MoveForwardSpeed to a negative number, like this:
MoveForwardSpeed=-1200
Note that I only play offline, and this setting in this file works great for me with Logitech Rumblepad 2 (although all of the other buttons are still a little off, but that I can live with). I tried every other reference to forward-backward movement and the left Y axis in this file, as well as "<installdir>\Engine\Config\BaseInput.ini" and "<installdir>\***Game\Config\DefaultInput.ini", so don't bother with those...
Addendum to my previous suggestion:
When editing WarInput.ini in My Documents, look for another section called "[WarfareGame.WarPlayerInput]" further down in the file, and change this MoveForwardSpeed to a negative number as well:
MoveForwardSpeed=-1200
BTW, not sure why the word W A R is being turned into three asterisks (***) in my previous post...

WORKS FINE on Rumblepad 2.
The reason of a problem is bad entry in C:\Documents and Settings\tymo\My Documents\My Games\Gears of War for Windows\WarGame\Config\WarImput.ini not in game installation directory.
There is mismached definition of Y axis. Originally you can find
it in [Engine.UIInputConfiguration] section:
AxisEmulationDefinitions=(AxisInputKey=XboxTypeS_LeftY,AdjacentAxisInputKey=XboxTypeS_LeftX,bEmulateButtonPress=True,InputKeyToEmulate[0]=Gamepad_LeftStick_Up,InputKeyToEmulate[1]=Gamepad_LeftStick_Down)
The only thing you need to change is the order in which ...Stick_Up and ...Stick_Down apears. This should look like that:
AxisEmulationDefinitions=(AxisInputKey=XboxTypeS_LeftY,AdjacentAxisInputKey=XboxTypeS_LeftX,bEmulateButtonPress=True,InputKeyToEmulate[0]=Gamepad_LeftStick_Down,InputKeyToEmulate[1]=Gamepad_LeftStick_Up)
I figured it out observing Definition for RightY axis which works well.
Good Fun

Hello there guys am not too sure if people still plays this game but i have a dual action controller and solution # 7 actually works but u need to MoveForwardSpeed=-1200 in [Engine.PlayerInput] also further down [WarfareGame.WarPlayerInput] MoveForwardSpeed=-1200.000000 just make the number a negitive and it works thanx to that post for solution #7
Finally, I got it.
I couldn't figure out why my Logitech Profiler wouldn't work with this game. But Finally I figured it out. I was pointing it to the wrong executable.
The shortcut points to a exe called Startup.exe. So you would think to point to that. Leave it to MS to obfuscate a simple exe.
The executable to configure in your Logitech Profiler is: WarGame-G4WLive.exe
(but don't try starting the game through profiler. It won't work. You have to start it through the shortcut and setup.exe.)
Full path below...
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries\WarGame-G4WLive.exe
Now that I did that, I can configure the pad any way I want and it works!
Ola,
I hope this posting comes through because I'll be pasting
a small sample of the modified WarInput.ini located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\My Games\Gears of War.
Basically remark a part of the warinput.ini so that the game
no longer can map to your controller with the xbox360 mapping
then use joytokey to remap to your leisure.
Joytokey:
http://www.brothersoft.com/joytokey-106303.html
I've added a sample .cfg for joytokey that will get you going
my controller is a logitech rumblepad 2 cordless.

Sorry to reply late but if you still want the solution you can download my profile for Gears of War to use with Rumblepad 2. Just go here and download the profile. It includes instructions on how to set it up. Once you set it up you can play GOW without any hassles!
http://bit.ly/Logitech-Gamepad-Profiles
Hope that helps.
**** logitech and MS
Lmao. I just tried every single solution here with a Dual-Action Gamepad. ZILCH. NADA.
Google for xpadder! theres a profile for gears on their homepage
Problem solved. None of these other solutions work for me, but this one should work for everyone.
Open BaseInput.ini in /Microsoft Games/Gears of War/Engine/Config, or wherever you installed it to. Two lines down in the "General Bindings" section (very close to to the top) are the following commands:
Bindings=(Name="MoveForward",Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=1.0")
Bindings=(Name="MoveBackward",Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=-1.0")
...Change these to:
Bindings=(Name="MoveForward",Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=-1.0")
Bindings=(Name="MoveBackward",Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=1.0")
You will also need to "swap sticks" - go into control panel for this, and open up Game Controllers. Double click the Cordless RumblePad 2, then at the bottom, click "settings." Then enable "swap mode."
Launch the game. Under the controller options, select "sticks" and put it on Left Handed. Also, invert the Y axis. And you are done. =) Tested and worked 100%.
~id0l
I'm aving the exact same problem only I'm using a Logitech dual action instead of a rumblepad and for some reason none of the solutions posted above seems to work for me. Can anybody help me?
Here's what worked for me:
- go to the control panel>Game Controllers>Properties>Settings>check the box "swap joystics"
- launch the game. Go to the control settings>controller and enable "left-handed sticks".
- enable "invert y axis" too.
Now your left and right sticks work properly. (Dont forget to disable swap mode if you want to play another game =))
To fix the other buttons' mappings you must edit the WarInput.ini in the My Documents\My Games\Gears of War for Windows\WarGame\Config
Im using logitech profiler and in profiler invert the y axis of left joystick of rumblepad2 for gears of war and this work fine
In map ( /Microsoft Games/Gears of War/Engine/Config/
look in BaseUnput.ini and change Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_DPad_Up",Command="MoveForward")
Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_DPad_Down",Command="MoveBackward")
to
Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_DPad_Down",Command="MoveForward")
Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_DPad_Up",Command="MoveBackward")
save and play )
Try this site - they claim to have a solution though I haven't tried it yet.
I have the same problem...
i tried to fix it with the logitech profiler, but it didn't worked :(
