Question about Brother HL 5250DN Laser Printer

1 Answer

I have a brother HL-5250DN printer. It recently stopped feeding paer out of the MP tray. It sounds like tries to feed the paper trhough but then stops. It might eventually feed one through and then it stops again. I've checked for paper or pieces of paper stuck inside but nothing. Thanks

Thanks, I did what you said and it worked. Well, I did all you said just in case. I also cleaned the rubber parts of the "pickup roller" ( not sure what its really called). Thanks again.

Fan the paper well and put it back in firmly.

Be certain that you have chosen the MP TRAY in the Paper Source of the printer driver.

Also, there have been some reported problems with the MP Tray. This is from the Brother website, so if the above 2 steps don't solve your problem, give this a try:

No paper in the paper cassette.

1. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.

2. Insert the letter or legal size paper into the paper tray with the
top edge of the paper first and the print side down. Make sure that the
paper is flat in the tray and below the maximum paper mark. If using a
paper size other than letter or legal, the paper should be loaded in the
MP Tray. The MP Tray can print on paper from 2.75 in. by 4.57 in. up to 8.5 in. by 16 in.

3. While pressing the blue paper-guide release lever, slide the paper
guides to fit the paper size. Make sure that the guides are firmly in
the slots. For legal size paper, press the lever located at the back of
the tray and pull out of the back of the open tray.

4. ReinstalI the paper cassette back into the printer. Press the GO
button.

Hope this helps.

How to you turn on the manual feed for the HL 5250dn?

Simply pull down the door on the front of the machine and insert paper into the manual feed tray. There is a sensor that recognises paper in the manual feed try and will then print from it.

My Brother 5250DN is not pulling paper through. What could it be?

do a test print... see you manual. You hold a button for 3 seonds and it'll print a test page. If that works you should be OK. Make sure that your paper tray is NOT over loaded. Maybe try less paper. Try the manual feed using one sheet of paper

Can the Brothers HL 2040 handle printing 65lb

It probably can but only from the front slot, the paper tray has to bend the paper around the roller in the front when feeding.

WHEN PAPER FEEDS THROUGH PRINTER COMES OUT WRINKLED. HL-5250DN BROTHER PRINTER

Try these - is paper dry?
Are you using good quality (80 gsm minimum) paper?
Are the fuser rollers (open back of printer, pull down inner paper guide using projecting lugs) in good shape?
Is there any paper debris in the paper path either before the laser unit or on the final path (look carefully at the little paper separator fingers) that is impeding the paper run at one side?
Does the bypass tray give good or bad results? - if good, look for paper debris in the initial feed path.
Are any flexible plastic guides pulled out of shape to face back up the paper path - often caused by pulling a misfeed out backwards?
I find that paper scraps in the initial feed path can be impossible to see, so I have a piece of laminated paper to push through the feed path. It often finds bits I couldn't see.

Paper Light Blinking

make sure the rear part of your paper tray is not pressed too tightly against rear of paper. it will prevent the paper from raising up fully to the feed roller. you can also try cleaning the feed roller if that doesn't do it.

Paper tray not lifting the paper up for the initial paper feeder

most common problem on these is the rear paper stop pressing too hard against the rear of paper causing paper not to lift. make sure you have about an 1/8" gap.

good luck,

Can't print from the MP tray?

When you print labels or envelopes you need to select the correct tray from the print menu. (File print or ctrl P) or the printer will think the normal paper tray is being used.

You can force the printer to change the tray after the print has been sent by pressing the continue button on the printer, just make sure that the normal tray has no paper in it.
