My PE550 weedeater edger that won't stay running. I have new carb, new fuel lines, new starter coil. any idea what could be the problem? I am now checking the gas cap, breather is good

check your fuel lines ensure you have them on correctly also check spark plug clean if necessary also when you change out fuel lines and carb it may take quite a few pulls to crank cause the little fuel system has to get primed up!

How do you replace the fuel filter on a Weedeater PE 550 lawn edger?

You can find replacement fuel filters at a nearby hardware store. Once you have one, fish out the line from inside the tank and fit new filter onto line and place it all back into the tank. You will probably have to back out the tube a little after re-installation.

The screws that hold the carburetor vibrated out and are lost. Any idea what size they are ? SAE or metric ?

Here is your part. To see your whole machine, just select Weedeater PE550 and a couple parts diagrams come up. The part number with a photo and the price are here as well. Shipping is stiff, but this is the best I can come up with. The head is TORX 20 it looks like (could be T-15), but the thread style is the important thing. Good luck!

WeedEater Edger PE550 Starter Rope will not recoil

Order a new recoil spring from your suppier. It comes wound up. Remove the old part first usually four screws on the outside. Make sure the rope is fully wound then insert the new spring and reassamble. If it becomes unwound by mistake its a labourious job to rewind but can be done.

Replace pull cord

The pull cord works by wrapping around a coil that holds the line, and
this works by a spring, and there are 4 bearings in a clutch that help it to engage. Through wear and tear this can get to where it just doesn't work well anymore and needs cleaned. Remove the four screws that attach the motor to the clutch assembly. This will give access to the pull cord. Remove and be careful for the spring likes to shoot out when you remove the 4 tabs that hold the spool in. Replace the cord by running one end through the hole that the old cord is in. You then tie a tight knot in the line, you will see this when you remove the old cord. While there I would clean, lubricate, reinstall, the spring, and you should be back to trimming

Replacing pull cord on weedeater

there is another t20 screw in the neck of the drum. once removed you will expose the drive clutch. soak it good with WD40 then unscrew it from the shaft. if you have all the housing screws out, you should be able to simply remove the housing to expose the pull cord assembly, screwed to housing.

Pullrope broke on weedeater 550 how do i get it apart to fix it

ther eshoul dbe some bolt holding the pullcord/recoil assenbly to the flywheel/motor. you need to locate and find these bolts first. let me know when you have this apart. you have to unwind the rope and pull it completley out, then buy a new pullcord rope(other rope will just fray and break agai) slip it thru the holes tie a knot wind up the spring and carefu;lly place it back on were it came. let me know if you run into any trouble.
