It may be dust in the connectors. If you remove the cover and use a can of dust remover to blow out any dust, also, blow out the connector holes. I fixed to VCR's like this. Good Luck.

I used my computer to burn a short program on to my dvd+rw. I put the recorded disk into the Presidian unit where it was read and recognized as normal. I began to play the disk and then went to the edit mode. I erased the content and the Presidian unit continued to recognize it as a valid disk which I recorded on normally. The only drawback is that I had to program each blank disk in this manner.

My TSST Corp DVD+RW does not recognize MAXELL DVD+RW single sided 4x4.7gb 120 min disk(s) WHY?

Does it recognise other make disks?
A DVD reader/writer may not recognise a blank disk for two main reasons;

The disk is not "prepared" or formatted for use,
or
The computer has been instructed not to "auto run" new disks.

Either way, there is no other reason why it won't see a blank disk.
If the disks have been written on by another computer and not "finalised" your drive might not be able to utilise anything that is on it.
I hope that answers your question.

I have never burned a CD. I have need of burning two tonight. What do I do?

are you burning a cd or dvd? burning a cd is pretty easy...windows will do most of the work for you. put a blank cd in your cd rom/ dvd burner drive. it will ask you what you want to do with the blank cd...vista usually asks you to format the disk...select ok.....a blank box will pop up....drag and drop your files to be burned into the blank box.....once you are done putting your media onto the disc....eject the disk...before the drive opens a box at the bottom of the screen says that the disc is being prepared for use on other computers. when it ejects, it should be done....you can try to put it back in to the cd drive and see if your data/media files are on the disc. ......now burning a dvd is alot more complicated....do you have software for burning dvd media? if you do, they have help me files and tutorials........some more good advice....youtube also shows good tutorial vids on burning. just type in "burn a cd or dvd".

The disk is not working, it says o bytes of 0 bytes after i just filmed. HELP

if the disc is a DVD-R then you can only use it once no matter how much data has been put onto it, if you want to record onto a DVD over and over you need to use DVD-RW these can be re written over and over again.

Recording Fall, Invalid disk

Try using Sony +R discs. or +RW's are good, any brand as long as they are +'s. For some reason alot of +R discs brands will not work, I wait and just get Sony +R or the +RW's on sale and stock up and I have no more troubles. Mine is the 05MU. The ZU is a little strange with the RW but will still record. Hope this helps.

Invalid disk

I contacted Gateway and found out that the AR-230 will not work with anything more than 4x DVD's. Usually it will format DVD-RW's but avoid memorex brand. Usually any other cheep brand will work.

Presidian dvd recorder pdr 3222

Have had the same problem with my Presidian3222 for the last year, if I recorded something it would come back as invalid disc or blank disc or would not close disc out right, got so damn mad almost took a hammer to it last night, unplugged it like clicky said, did no good, thought cable co may have been sending single to screw up recording, but today took camcorder and tried to record something, same thing which seemed to let the cable co off the hook.
the following seemed to have fixed the problem, first open the player then unplug it, close the drawer 1/2 way, then I took compressed air and blew inside the player to clean the laser after that I have been able to record 3 movies and close the disc properly and finalize the disc properly, I even had 50 new disc made by sony that recorded kept saying were invalid, reads them fine now, I hope this helps everyone, because I was on the edge of putting this thing in the trash last night.
