Question about Heating & Cooling
If the noise is coming from the outdoor unit you probably have a bad set of contactors. you may just have ants or bugs in them open the electrical panel on the unit and look at the piece where the wires coming into the unit from the wall connect look for ants in and around this component. they probably just need to be replaced. only other problem could be bad or low voltage coming from indoor system or bad wires that were hit with at weed eater or chewed by animal or just skind and shorting out.
