Question about AT&T Computers & Internet

Will not connect with dsl... all connections are checked by hand and by software troubleshoot and are sound and correct, everything was fine yesterday but today will not get a green light on the dsl at all... thanks for any assistance .... gf

No light on DSL usually means a problem BEFORE the modem

Check all your filters (or disconnect phones just to test)

Also check your cables from the modem as well as the modem power supply.

Anything outside that is usually an ISP issue.

They will tell you if they can see your modem and give you tips on re-connect.

Also power down the modem for a couple of minutes along with all your computers.
connect modem first and power it up. Wait till all the correct lights are on (LAN may not light). Then power up one computer at a time to check for conectivity.

Try removing the splitter, if it works then you might have a faulty splitter and you need to get it replaced. You might check if you are using the first phone jack in your house / apartment. I remember that was key when i was on DSL. Hope you get it sorted out, not having a working connection is very annoying.

When i connect with the internet and my phone rings, the internet connection is interrupted and I cannot use the phone and internet at the same time. please helps


I'm goign to asume here that you have DSL by your problem. If I am incorrect then please let me know.

With that said, first you need to check that your dsl filters are correctly connected and functioning correctly. If you hear a static or fuzzy sound on the telephone even echo this will be the casue from a bad filter or non-existing filter.

A filter that is bad or missing will cause DSL to drop its connection. The telephone call will cause too much interruption with the dsl signal and causes the modem to drop the connection to reconnect with a more solid connection.

So what you need to do is check your filter by changing it as well as checking this problem that it happens on all phones not just one individual.

Loss of connection to internet for no apparent reason


Can you check if this happens without the router ? if you connect your modem directly does it still drop at times ? If not , see if you can update the firmware of your router. that could help

Macbook and I-touch loses wireless connection with versalink dsl


It sounds like the dsl modem and the gateway should be sync'd in the following way:
1. Turn everything off and disconnect the dsl for a bit. Make sure even the wifi stuff is off.
2. Turn on your gateway and let it cyce up.
3. Plug the dsl ethernet cable into your gateway, and to your phone line, then plug in the power to the dsl.
This will cause the dsl modem to "find" the gateway IP address and connect.
4. Turn everything else back on.
This should eliminate all the drops...

I had a similar problem, and how I fixed it, was I made sure the connection was working, so the pc end had right details, and then I turned it off, and then put in router, and when it started back up, it started up and connected straight away.

wel check and make sure all your settings are correct fist go into internet options and make sure proxy isnt checked and you dont have it as trying to connect through something other than your dsl

I just recieved my Siemens Gigaset SE587 WLAN dsl router and i set it up but the only light coming on is the power light,is the router faulty or damaged?


Are all the cables connected correctly?
Are the DSL settings in?

If it's only the power light, and no WLAN, LAN, DSL or Internet lights on, it sounds like it may be faulty. Is it brand new or second hand?

Easy way to diagnos is call ATT DSL support and ask them to run a line noise test. This will check the signal getting to the gateway. If everything tests fine there is usually an issue with the device.

Does your DSL connection require a PPPoE login?

IF so check to see of auto-reconnect is enabled?

If not Enable auto-reconnect.
