The freezer ice is probably building up because of a 'defrost cycle' issue. I have looked up the 'if' code for your machine. There is no mention of that fault. It is an LG right? Made for Kenmore. I have a service manual that is close, but not that specific model that I looked up. Once you correct the freezer issue with the ice build up, you may not see that error come back. I'm sure the ice is affecting several things.

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. Function TEST for Ice maker--
1. This is a compulsory operation for TEST, SVC, cleaning, etc. It is operated by pressing the water supply control KEY for 3 seconds.
2. It operates in the Icemaking mode, but not in the Ice-Removing mode or water supply process. (If there is an ERROR, it
can only be checked in the TEST mode.)
3. If the water supply control KEY is pressed for 3 seconds in the Icemaking mode (no matter what condition the Ice-Making
tray is in) the Ice-Removing operation starts immediately. Water is not yet frozen, so water is poured instead of ice. If the
control doesn’t operate normally in the TEST mode, check and repair as needed.
4. After water is supplied, the normal CYCLE is followed: Icemaking → Dump → Fill → Park Position.
5. When Stage 5 is completed in the TEST mode, minimize MICOM in 5 seconds, the time needed to supply water resets to
the previous status in the TEST mode.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks

Hi,
Error code 1F indicates an abnormality of the BLDC fan motor for ice making, caused by a poor BLDC motor connection.done it sounds like it is usually a bad fan motor that causes this condition. This will prevent the icemaker from working. I'm not sure if it will affect the defrost cycle. If you turn off the icemaker, then either pull the plug for a few seconds or turn off the circuit breaker for a few seconds, the front panel will light up and stay lit. Then you need to call for service.
Thanks
Smith.
