Is that the only disc you seem to be having the problem with?? If so try getting the disc repair kit and using that. I had the same problem with mine but it was only some of the discs. The ps2 slim can be very sensitive and even the slightest defect in a disc will cause it not to recognize there is even a disc there.
Turn on the console while pressing START on the joystick 1, wait 10 seconds, release START then reset the console. If nothing appears on the screen, the console is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the console starts, replace the Modchip.
Can you hear the fan spinning on the inside of the PS2? If the PS2 comes on, loads the disc, then shuts itself off, chances are it is overheating and shuts off to prevent damage. There is a small fan on the inside of the Slim PS2 that keeps it cool.
If you press the reset switch and it goes from red to green and immediately back to red without ever turning on, your motherboard is shot. ESD damage.
That same thing happened to me. I disassembled the ps2 to find out the problem, I found out. If your console does not turn on or no lights check the silver ribbin connected to the reset button. See If it is in all the way the top and the bottom of the ribbin or check to see if there are any tares in it if there is replace it . You can get good parts off of Ebay.
ok my friend is olde and slim so what we did to temporlary fix it is clean disc and put the ps2 standing up and see if it spins . if it doenst open and then spin it by hand . then try it again contact me at email@example.com and have the subject
" ps2 not spinning because i am carefull bout new viruse going around on this kind of computer
ok...well all of you people are just **** him!
the actual problem is that you probably dropped the ps2 and the case lid got a bit lose......
what you have to do (if you dont want to buy a whole ps2 case again) is tap the ps2 on the top of the lid when it goes into the cd browser screen and it will work perfectly fine
just make sure you dont tap i too hard or else we will have another problem...lol!
You need to try clenaing the Laser Lens. This is done by Using Q-tip and a window cleaner like Windex. Lightly Dampen one end of the Q-Tip and swab the lens with a slight bit of aggression. Use the Dry end of the swab to dry the lens. Try it out. Also you could have your laser gear popped out. look at the long worm gear to be sure it is stuck in the black holder. This should help you. In the unfortunate event it does not, you probably need a new laser. I do think you will get it working becasue you hear the Disc spinning. If the Laser was really dead, the disc would not spin as in it cannot tell the computer the laser sees a disc. Does the same thing as though no disc is in the drive bay.
